Carter and Waugh from memory. Absolutely brilliant mate. :frans

My opinion is there are a few people carrying on like wankers and that they should all probably stop posting until they sort their shit out.

agree with you totally, people just being negative for negatives sake should really open there minds and try to post something constructive, but they will probably just keep ragging on people in the hope of feeling cool

Are you implying Pocock is shite or even average?

no, not at all, i just thought we lacked leadership to close out tight games. still do, waugh is the only one left capable of doing this regardless of how you think of his current form, i would prefer him on the field with ten to go than have the ball in the hands of giteau

Now you are going too far, WJ, far too far. Waugh at inside centre WTF :lmao:

My primary concern out of this is the Tahs lose tonight and Hickey goes back to the old team selection. That sort of move would be about as justified as backing him because we're winning ugly. Its a fine line but hopefully the boys gel tonight and we benefit mostly from people getting match fitness.

That said, I think the people being negative are doing it for genuine reason. This season has all the hallmarks of last season, with the small difference being he may have woken up a bit earlier this year.

I think Hickey is probably smart enough to realise that the Blues' three-quarter line needs a genuine pacey centre pairing to counter it, and is hoping Barnes and Horne will knock the wind out of Ranger's sails early, being small chaps with big ticker and good defence. What concerns me is the Blues know Waugh isn't up to speed with the game and will chuck it wide at every opportunity.

The Lions got two bonus points from their thrashing at the hands of the cheifs. Anyone else think this is wrong?

Does anyone know if losing teams get bonus points in the Top14? I know teams get a bonus point only if they score four more tries than their opponents, rather than for just scoring 4.

Pocock has only come on the international scene in the last 12 months and Waugh was getting plenty of time off the bench to close out games (with his leadership skills) before that. We lost the majority of those games too IIRR.

Wisely put.

Re your last sentence, as Hooper scored his try last night I thought "he got that try because he was in the right place (on the ball) at the right time at the right speed at the right angle and had the skill to catch the ball when it came to him. Isn't that a 7's job". Then I had a flash to Waugh and would he have scored that try. No, the key ingredient has been missing for a long while. Speed kills.

WJ, my opinion is that I find youre contrariness annoying. (Yes, contrariness is a word. A perfectly cromulent word.)

@ Biffo - Haven't seen Hooper's effort yet. But as a direct contrast - Tahs v Force. Waugh basically saved it in the last couple of minutes with two good efforts, but the ref made two puzzling decisions to make it happen.

Very good point and I agree in principle. However, in Perth the play was almost static when Waugh pulled off his miracles.

Yeah there were no Force players in sight and that is what forced the ref's hand in the end. But a more pedantic ref would have blipped the Tahs first for not rolling (as they should) and that would be the game. Its all down to "material effect" I suppose.

At this point can I just say: Right players = right result. The defence-in-depth needs some tweaking but that was mainly a failure to show up and ruck time and I'm pretty sure Hickey didn't tell them to concede 85% gain line. Just a matter of balancing the attack and defence now.

So this week WJ, I have no real complaints to offer. But the majority of posters asking for Rob Horne and Beale have been proved correct to a degree. Beale's defence was a known shortcoming.

And I've been saying here and elsewhere for some time (how're those ears, LG and pedallist?) Waugh should lose some weight to improve his mobility around the paddock. He's too bloody big.
