Yep, but a few "old heads" up into 1sts this week ie Kuki Ma'fu (27), David Horwitz (20), Will Munro (22?), Sam Figg (22?), and Vuni Fifita (18?).

Dave, sounds amazing. Not sure what the plan is for Coogee this Saturday, but I'm sure it will include a bugler playing the last post. Sends tingles down my spine every time I hear it. The great thing about Rugby is you know there will actually be a minute's silence. Unfortunately the other...

    Shute Shield 2015

BTW, a young guy named George Harrison (nickname Beatle  ) scored 6 tries for Wicks 2nd grade yesterday playing at #6. I think Mike Cleary still holds the record for most tries in a game. Is that correct and does anyone know how many he scored?

    Shute Shield 2015

OK, but don't forget my previous note about the first grade game: Randwick only led 19-15 with 15 minutes to go. Penrith played with a lot of enthusiasm and tackled strongly. I believe many of their players are ex-mungos still learning the game. If they can keep the 1st grade squad together for...

The after match function is being held at the Bowling Club, but I believe they also have a presence at Latham -- I think this is the official address for the club these days. I've been trying to find out what's happening with the building works at Coogee Oval, but no luck so far.

    Shute Shield 2015

The Emus difinitely lack depth but the 1sts gave the Wicks a big scare. Wicks led 19-3 at 1/2 time, but the Emus really lifted their game in the 2nd half and got to 19-15 down with about 15 minutes on the clock. The Wicks scored 2 late tries to secure the win, but there were some nervous coaches...

Kuate was injured (knee?) in the 1st round agst Eastwood and is recovering. Not sure about Folau -- not named in the teams this week and I don't think he played last week either, although named in 2nds.

I notice Andrew Deegan has been named at 10 in 1sts for the Wicks and also at 15 in 2nds. I know these young guys are fit and maybe he needs some playing time to warm up for the Aust U20s, but seems a bit much to ask ;)

    Shute Shield 2015

Important to note that the Wicks were smashed by Manly in the trials and by Eastwood in the first round. We have then beaten West Harbour, Warringah and Parramatta. The first 2 have won 1 game each and Parra is yet to win a game. Wicks play Penrith and Easts over the next 2 weeks and would hope...

Unfortunately I have to agree with the various comments above. Hopefully things will improve as the year progresses.

I think he busted some vertebrae in his neck.

Good to see Sam Figg back on the paddock after what looked like it may have been a career ending injury last year.

Harry Jones is in the extended Aust U20s squad. Suspect he's "active resting" like some of the others.

Came off the bench in 1sts as a fresh reserve against the Rats last week.

    Manly 2015

Hey Dave (or anyone else), what're your thoughts on Donlan v Lucas for the 9 jumper at the Marlins this year? I'm pleased to see Tim in 1sts after a disappointing time at the Wicks, but will he hold off Lucas this year?

Wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult for NSWRU to advise ground closures on their website but, given it still has 2013 info under 2015 listings, hardly surprising.

Big call -- I'll try both this year and withhold judgement for the moment

The Wicks lead 19-0 after 11 minutes even though the Rats were camped in the Wicks red zone. Over the next 69 minutes each side scored 17 points. Strange game.

    Shute Shield 2015

Weird game -- Rats dominated 1st half possession and camped in the Wicks red zone but Wicks lead 26-0 at half time by capitalising on the Rats mistakes. More even in the 2nd half with Rats running in some late tries to make the score a bit more respectable. Horwitz has improved by a huge amount...
