    Shute Shield BBQs and Canteens

Yep, you could have had an ONION roll or sandwich, with or without egg.

Wicks won 4 out of 4 (plus all colts) last Saturday so we'll have to wait until (if) we lose a game at Coogee to find out ;) PS: There was also a fair serving of wingeing from the BBQ attendant which adds to the enjoyment and was sadly lacking at Coogee last year.

    Shute Shield BBQs and Canteens

Last Saturday we had Montieth Golden Lager and Jeffrey Sayle Ale on tap with cans of Bintang. Hate to admit it but the MGL was better than the SA! Oatley wines also available.

Correct Hugh, the BBQ is back but a few teething problems to be ironed out ie didn't get underway until about 2pm, lack of staff, and NO ONIONS!!!

    Shute Shield 2015

Especially if they keep losing players to other clubs -- 7 to the Beasties this year?

Hugh, my info was from the Wicks website. Sorry, can't add any more than that.

Below are the Wicks players in the U20s extended squad: Ned Hanigan, Olly Kamp, Andrew Deegan, Andrew Kellaway, Henry Hutchinson and Lukhan Lealaiauloco. Hanigan, Deegan and Kellaway will obviously be challenging for 1st grade spots when (and if) available. Good to see Kellaway running the...

The 2 18 year olds (Latinipulu and Melipo) went well in the centres in the 1st half for the Wicks before Ma'afu replaced Melipo at half time. Horwitz looked really sharp at 10 and it was easy to see why the Waratahs signed Auvasa -- he adds a new dimension to the half back role ie he runs with...

I think Goodbody was injured in the trials, but he was at TGMilner on Saturday looking very fit, although not playing. TC has been with the NSW 7s team and missed some of the trials which might explain his 3s selection.

I don't think Latu played, although I'm not familiar with some of the new faces yet. I'm fairly sure Seamus Frost played at 13 (from 1st colts 2014) and was injured as per Sid's post. Brogan Roods was replaced at half time in the trial v Easts -- not sure if he played the following week v Manly.

    Shute Shield 2015

Rugby News website is running a series of previews of the clubs for 2015 ie INs and OUTs etc. Parts 1 and 2 already posted, final part to come tomorrow I assume. http://www.rugbynews.net.au/

Don't get excited Beasties supporters -- this is not a prediction, just alphabetical order ;)

Not sure if this is still current but this is the latest I heard: 28/2 v Parramatta (Granville?) 7/3 v Easts (Latham Park) 14/3 v Manly (Coogee?)

    Shute Shield 2015

Hanigan played a few first grade games at the beginning of 2014 and looked seriously out of his depth. I then saw him play several games later in the year (including the finals series) in Colts 1 and could appreciate what all the hype was about -- he's so mobile and fast for a lock. It will be...

Maybe they need an injection of youth? How old are Edmonds, Elsom and Tomiki?

    Player Movements Shute Shield 2015

I wish Tim Donlan well -- I don't think the Wicks ever saw him at his best.

Guess it's our turn then :(

    Shute Shield 2015

I think you're right Macca. The Wicks play Uni, Southern, Eastwood and Manly twice each (8 of 18 games against last years' semi-finalists ) and of the 4 teams we only play once next year, Norths, Penrith and Gordon are the bottom 3 from last year . Sounds like a tough year ahead...

    Shute Shield 2015

One positive (??) to come out of the ABC dropping coverage of the SS is we might get back to having a packed house at the GF again. That's assuming the NSWRU finds a way (and some motivation) to ensure everyone knows it's on.

    The Mighty Two Blues

Good value, especially since the Wicks have increased their home game only ticket from $50 to $89 (early bird) or $99 after 31/12.
