    Shute Shield 2015

I suggest the law should be changed so that the support players (ie those without the ball) need to be bound behind or alongside the ball carrier. That would give the defenders some chance of preventing progress and/or getting the ball without acting illegally. The "use it or lose it law" was...

Probably a local knowledge thing, but for someone who likes to watch all games (not just 1sts) I can easily find free all day parking within 5 minutes walk at Coogee, but I always struggled at Chatswood. Anyway, with the Gold Opal Card it's cheaper to get the train / bus where feasible.

    For good reason too!

I gave up on that years ago -- the train is much easier and quicker than driving.

Wow, colts on Saturday at Chatswood and grade at Coogee on Sunday. Colts 1 = 1 v 4 Colts 2 = 1 v 4 Colts 3 = 1 v 2 (both undefeated) Will Mrs Coach give me a leave pass for both days? Watch this space

    Shute Shield 2015

Chip and grubber kicks should be banned IMO -- have to be the lowest percentage play in the game. I reckon the Wicks tried 3-4 yesterday and none of them ever looked like coming off. Ball in hand except when under extreme pressure in your own red zone should be Wicks mantra. They showed in the...

    Sydney Colts - 2015

Is tonight's Barbarians team listed anywhere?

Thanks FRF and Hugh, didn't know about the Barbarians game.

    Sydney Colts - 2015

I'll be interested to see whether the Wicks Aust U20 rock stars are selected in grade or colts this week, assuming they are available.

I thought the turning point in 1sts was when Patrick Phibbs came on in the second half. His experience and selective passing got the Wicks moving forward and he grabbed the match winning try just before FT. Hope he's in the 1sts run on team from now on. Can't beat an old head at 9 with such a...

Radar (and saucer) becoming more difficult to fly under Dave.

Looks like the radar (to fly under) has moved from Coogee to Manly

I understand their unhappiness. 3rd grade should be at Coogee instead of (or as well as) Colts2s IMO.

My admittedly somewhat faulty memory suggests the big second rower John Weber kicked some goals for Randwick back in the 60s and 70s. Can anyone confirm that?

2nds was the only game at Coogee which was evenly contested and in doubt well into the second half. The best goal kicker in the Wicks (Tom Hiddleston) is playing 2nds and he is kicking for goal from everywhere up to about 55m and it paid off on Saturday.

Another positive is that we won everything other than 1st grade and without the U20 rock stars most of whom have been playing grade rather than colts. Congratulations to the 6 who've been selected in the Aust U20's world championship squad ie Tui, Kellaway, Hanigan, Croke, Kamp, Deegan. We won't...

To have held Manly to only 5 points in the second half was a big achievement. At 29-3 at half time I was expecting it to get very ugly in the second half. The big down side is that we never really looked liked scoring a try.
