Finau Makamaka who went from the Wicks to Balmain a few years ago and I'm fairly sure was a regular in 1st grade at Balmain, has returned to the Wicks and is playing 3rds and 4ths. Which adds to my concern that Balmain wouldn't be any more competitive than the Emus.

Does anyone know how many Balmain players got a run in the Sydney Uni / Balmain NRC team last year? I don't think there were many, in which case they may not be any more competitive in the SS than the Emus are.

If memory serves me correct, the Emus actually beat the Wicks in 1st grade at Coogee in 2011 or 2012.

At the end of the day, the only thing that will work is for the Emus to be able to attract and keep good players. The efforts of Teki and his family and other loyal and hard working Emu supporters will never be enough unless they can get good players on the park every week. I was really...

Sorry, I don't see how that would work. IMO it would just result in an exodus of players who want to play 1st grade to other clubs, to league or they will give it away as I expect will also happen to the colts if they don't enter a team in colts 1 next year.

If anyone has the time to look back over posts for the previous couple of years they'll find that all the current comments about the Emus have been said before. It's blindingly obvious that without some dramatic intervention by SRU, NSWRU, ARU (no chance) or some benefactor with deep pockets...

The yellow card for Lucas's tackle was ridiculous -- it shouldn't have even been a penalty. Coaches need to tell their players to stop tackling low with any force as they'll be yellow carded if the ball carrier falls awkwardly.

Wicks v West Harbour postponed to Tuesday night at Latham Park.

Perfect example of this in the Chief's first try last weekend. The ball carrier disengaged twice, called by the commentator, but the referee apparently didn't see it and a try was awarded soon after.
