    Reds v Force pre-season trial. 5 Feb.

Blake was in the Junior Wallabies squad last year before it was called off. He performed well for Bond last year in QPR , he and Zane Nonggorr started quite a few games together. He can cover #2 as well , or at least did as an 18 year old.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

On Vest , he probably doesn’t have the height that coaches would be looking for to play lock at Super Rugby level. However he at least matched , if not got the better of quite a few Super Rugby locks that he opposed in QPR last year. IMO he was regularly the most dominant lock on the field , even when opposing...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

Think this might have something to do with the pool of uncontracted players that Super Rugby clubs can call on if required. i know both Vest and Oates have been approached to be part of that pool of players .

    Reds 2022

Didn’t realise Dalgleish was back for UQ, if so it gets a bit complicated. No doubt the Reds would like to see Lynagh playing QPR. Mick would want to pick his best team .

    QLD Colts 2022

Might just be that he is more likely to play first grade at Sunnybank than Brothers ?

    Reds 2022

Agree, the form of Thomas at the back end of QPR was very good and a massive improvement on his first few games for UQ. Guess that backs up what’s being mentioned, these younger guys need game time to aid their development. Having Thomas, Lynagh and Grealy getting regular minutes together in QPR...

    Reds 2022

Hope you’re right about the likes of Lynagh playing QPR and we don’t see another repeat of 2020 and squad bubbles. Those not getting regular minutes , particularly the younger ones , really need QPR for their development.

    Reds 2022

The cynic in me wonders about contracts and numbers of weeks off . Being left home for a chance to have a full preseason, but then have a contractual rest instead of hitting the gym sadly wouldn’t surprise me. Just a few weeks to drown your sorrows?

Trial Match - Waratahs v Brumbies at Bowral

Final score? Did Hugh Bokenham get many minutes for the Tahs ? Think he and Tom Hooper from the Brumbies have good promise as Super Rugby players .

    Wallabies 2023

Sad indictment on our stocks of international quality fullbacks if Beale is still getting mentioned as a chance. His X factor is being unpredictable and occasional brilliant in attack . Unfortunately the only predictable facet of his plays are the shit bits that for any other player only get...

    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

Yeah , that’s what I’m getting at, I wouldn’t move from Bond to GPS for the halves combination. As you said , GPS are a good team and have a proven formula. Forward based , strong set piece and in recent seasons plenty of crash ball options in midfield. Not sure Tasi would be a stand out in that...

Him playing outside a good ball playing 10 would give him the best chance of getting recognised. Thought the Bond halves were actually pretty good the last couple of seasons.

    Waratahs 2022

The Reds have a KPI of signing at least 80% locally developed talent , not sure if the Tahs have something similar? Brad Thorn is big on the idea of the Reds representing all of Qld , rather than just being a franchise based in Brisbane. Home grown talent is a big part of this and I for one...

    QLD Colts 2022

Would imagine Michael VDS will get a decent crack at Colts 1 this year and agree with your sentiment of him being undervalued last year DM.

    Qld Premier Rugby 2022

Agree Geraghty would be a chance for a spot in first grade . Other than those already named , think Campbell Moller might also get some time at 13. He runs great lines , tackles vey well and seems tough enough.

UQ has always had “Red Heavies” logo , this is just the new , less cartoony one . The University crest will stay. The Red Heavies logo is used on training gear and merchandise etc …… The old logo……. and with associated merch ……

    Super Rugby 2022

What’s the go with the Force? Still a hard border up in WA? Couldn’t get the cricket to work , Super Rugby no chance . Another year on the road for the Force ?

    Super Rugby 2022

Reds have already announced that they are going into a bubble with Ballymore locked down. If the season proceeds with bubbles in place , there will be no shortage of “extras” from each team keen for a run regardless of who that is for. Hopefully not a repeat of 2020 where we saw the extended...

    Reds 2022

Yeah great to have the internal competition for spots , good options and depth in back row , midfield and outside backs. The trick will be keeping them all. Guess the concern is the lack of depth in the front row and at 10. Locks are sound , particularly if Blyth rips in . Overall coming...

    Reds 2022

I’m Saw them both play live against UQ. If you didn’t know Blyth was a Super Rugby player , you would not have picked it . In fact he wasn’t even the best lock out there , yet alone a stand out . Smith on the other hand looked every bit the Super Rugby player in every aspect of the game , he picked off...
