    Reds 2022

^There is definitely pro Henry vibe to the history of posts as well as questioning Stewarts future at 12. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, don’t think Thorn and co spend too much time reading posts before selecting teams or renewing contracts.

    Round 5 - Brumbies v Reds GIO 18/3

Well he does get your second reserve hooker selected for the Wallabies , probably the best since Dwyer’s Randwick days ……..

    QLD Colts 2022

Yeah hopefully so. The 2021 cohort though was a particularly strong one with many already playing Super Rugby, from the final squad you have : Pollard Nonggorr Blake Tom Hooper Bokenham Luke Callan Alberts Thomas ( still eligible 2022) Carter Gordon Pasitoa Ripley ( still eligible 2022) Nick Chan...

    QLD Colts 2022

The first camp often has over 60 named to attend and normally held in late Jan or early Feb . It’s been delayed the past two years because of Covid and is named before anyone is back playing rugby. The second camp finishes with a Probables v Possibles from which they name the final squad. There...

Super Rugby Rnd 4 Reds v Drua, Suncorp Satdium 12/3 @ 6:45pm AEST

I was initially worried when I saw the replay of the try on the big screen , not because I thought Smith was offside , but more how far he cleaned out and the space he made by doing so was where Uru scored. However he cleaned out into the in goal area, the Dura player he cleaned out was just in...

Always rated his work in general play and has a good rugby brain. Actually played some 10 in his early junior days before moving initially to #8 in his early teens then eventually to prop and now hooker. Played First XI cricket for Terrace from memory, so decent hand eye. Great to see his set...

    Reds 2022

He came up to QPR two years ago to have a different set of eyes on him in the hope of a professional contract. He has a great work ethic and character, genuinely loves his footy and rips in every game he plays. Gets around his team mates and everyone who has played with him loves having him in...

Probably need to rewatch it , but I was a little miffed about Nasser’s yellow. The Dura player gets hit by TT and cannons into Nasser with little or no time to adjust his body position. To me he was more bracing for contact than making a no arms tackle.

Agree about Uru and TT , also surprised the refs didn’t look at the clean out you mentioned. The saving grace for the Reds is they were playing under penalty advantage right in front of the posts. Three points would have been enough.

Think one issue with the early replacements was replacing the wrong players. Paisami and Petaia were cooked , but left on too long. With the benefit of hindsight, Flook could have been moved to 13 for Paisami and JOC (James O'Connor) to 15 for Petaia. Would have still given Campbell a crack at 10 with JOC (James O'Connor) there...

Tom Hooper had a fine game in what I think was his starting debut. Only turning 21 this year , lock stocks looking good .

Was that “ Wallaby Gold” the Brumbies wearing tonight?

Nic Darveniza does a great job writing about all things rugby in the GC Bulletin. Articles cover school and junior comps , local senior comp and a bit of QPR as well as stuff higher up the chain. Makes you realise how poorly rugby is covered in Brisbane.

    Reds 2022

Yeah I posted this in the QPR thread late last year after seeing the article in the GC Bulletin. Interesting bit at the end about how he contacted the Reds about the chance of a one year contract, but all three halfback spots were taken.

Drua v Rebels @ Sunshine Coast Stadium 7.45pm AEDT, Friday 04/03

My point about the Storm wasn’t directed at what they do with their pathways or junior development, but what they do with players who arrive there to play. Regardless of where they are from they generally end up a better player for being part of the Storm setup. This what the Rebels need to...

Yep the conversation should be around why would you move your best performer in a particular position for someone who many hope will be a superstar? Jock’s not likely to get a wing spot for the Wallabies, so moving him to the wing for the Reds is somewhat of a demotion if not technically being...

Drua v Rebels @ Sunshine Coast Stadium 7.45pm AEDT, Friday 04/03

Agree on that , the Melbourne Storm are doing very little to grow league in Melbourne. What I’m saying is regardless of juniors and pathways all the Rebels need to be in the short term is be a place where someone can go to be a Super Rugby player and hopefully develop. I’m not asking for a...

Maybe Thorn has been asked to give Petaia some time at 15 by our national coach? If so, seems like a good game to do it. The two could easily be interchanged during the game, but yeah must be a bit of a kick in the guts for Campbell, he couldn’t really be doing any more at present.

Drua v Rebels @ Sunshine Coast Stadium 7.45pm AEDT, Friday 04/03

I'd be surprised if Sydney has smaller numbers playing Aussie Rules than Melbourne has playing league. Even Brisbane has done pretty well in the AFL stakes and local comp and juniors appear strong, again would guess higher numbers than Melbourne has playing league. What the Storm do incredibly...

Drua v Rebels @ Sunshine Coast Stadium 7.45pm AEDT, Friday 04/03

Think about the Melbourne Storm for a minute . Rugby Australia doesn’t need the Melbourne comp or pathways to be producing Wallabies, it needs the Rebels to be a place where you can go to be developed into a professional rugby player. It’s great that Melbourne is producing players and the...
