    Clarity on Passing

Is it too late to vote for thread of the year? I don't know about Rule 6, but I think I see Rule 10 approaching slightly faster than the speed of light.

    Clarity on Passing

I know, spooony. The law says one thing and the refs play another. There's quite a few of those in rugby. P.S. Steel yourself for some more nonsense from a certain quarter.

I'll sort this out calmy and fairly. Schadenfreude is right, Inside Shoulder is wrong.

Union or League - what did you start with?

Played rugby both with and against cyclopath from about under8s. For a couple of years I went to the "Manly-Warringah School", and so following the Sea Eagles during their glory years in the late 70s and early 80s. Then picked up rugby again at High School. I reckon what sport your Dad follows...

    Freakonomics: home-field advantage

http://www.nfl.com/features/freakonomics/episode-7?module=HP11_cp The Freakonomics guys take on home-field advantage. Their result: it's the refs. Interesting how the different sports have different levels of home advantage: MLB 53.9% NHL 55.7% NFL 57.3% NBA 60.5% MLS 69.1%...

A crime against Rugby & Bernie. Your help needed

Wilkinson is the single most overrated player of all time. ROG, however, must be close to the most underrated, judging by this thread. He was very very good. I would have to pick Bernie first, because he simply has the sweetest pass in rugby and I would want to watch it over and over. But I'd...

    Sonny Bill

This belongs in the boxing thread, but still, the state of NZ heavyweights must be bloody poor when the number 1 contender has a 50/50 record. Even then, I'd tip any semi-professional boxer to take SBW's head clean off. I'm tipping a sad, sorry, and slightly embarrassed SBW in week 1 of SupeRugby.

    Making rugby No 1

Can I ask another question - WHY would we want rugby to be the number 1 sport in Australia? I reckon we want quality, not quantity. How many people here are old enough to miss the good old days? Were they good because the players were fitter, stronger, faster? Was it because the Wallabies won...

    Making rugby No 1

I like the fact that rugby has limited appeal. I don't like the way it's confined to private schools, though. I went to a state school that played rugby, and we were learnt rugby values along with the game. If you broaden the rugby playing base, you compromise rugby values, and that's...

    Super Rugby touch rugby

Focus people, we're trying to organise something here. Who can make which event? I can make 1, 3, 5, and 6.

    Super Rugby touch rugby

OK - so, the Army are going to away games. Excellent. Possible fixtures for 2012, ranked by most likely to happen: 1. Rebel Army @ Sydney (Sat 21 April) 2. Rebel Army @ Brisbane (Sat 10 Mar) ------------------------------------- 3. Sydney G&GRs @ Melbourne (Fri 2 Mar) 4. Brisbane G&GRs @...

    Super Rugby touch rugby

OK, I realise that this will get kicked into the Everything Else board, but I need to get a few people to see it here first. Last year, the Rebel Army made the trip to Sydney to get spanked by the G&GR Sydney mob. Organisation of that event wasn't the best, but it was a great game of touch...

    SupeRugby TMO's job extended

I guess I support this. The current rule for TMO is very frustrating. There's an obvious bit of offisde / forward pass / foul play, but if all the ref asks about is: "foot in touch" then he TMO is fucked. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind canning all technology and just copping on the chin...

    Super Rugby Membership Watch

NSW $120? Really? What kind of ticket do you get for that? Edit: Bronze = $120; Silver = $195; Gold = $286; Platinum = $377 Maybe I'm being a wanker, but I'd only want to sit in qhat they call Platinum - alongside the field of play on the sides. Even Gold is in the corners.

David Pocock named WA's Young Australian of the year

Saw this today. Was gushing to my wife about what an awesome guy he is. I'm tipping some Mardi Gras floats in his honour next year.

    Did Joubert feel the pressure?

OK, one last time for the muttonbrain. No I haven't. As much as I was hoping for the ABs to lose, they were absolutely the best team at the tournament. I think either side could have won that game. One more successful kick and the you would be a hell of a lot less smug. I think Joubert's...

    Did Joubert feel the pressure?

In correctly defending Joubert you have proven yourself to be the pea-hearted keyboard warrior we all suspected. The team you support very nearly lost that game, mate. France played fantastic rugby and probably deserved to win. The All Blacks have the cup, but no need to talk their opponents down.
