2012 Rugby Championship Round 3 Game 1 Australia vs South Africa - 8 Sep

Good to see Glen Jackson on the sideline. I've AR'd for him a few times this season.

Wallabies by 12. Saffers were awful last week and I reckon the Aussies will stand up for themselves tonight. Besides, its not time to recall agent Deans yet.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 4 Game 2 Australia vs Argentina - 15 Sep

I'll save my vote till after the Wallaby v Boks game tonight, but I gotta say that if the Pumas attack the breakdown like they did in Wellington the Wallabies could be in for a looong night.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 3 Game 2 NZ vs Argentina - 8 Sep

Good game from the Argies there. They gave us a real good go for 60 minutes. All they need is to learn to play for 80 minutes and they'll be very hard to beat. I love the way they attack the breakdown. They might even attack it more than we do.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 3 Game 2 NZ vs Argentina - 8 Sep

In order to determine the relative abilities of the All Blacks and the Wallabies in terrible conditions, one only needs to look back at the last time a game was played in such conditions. 1996 in Wellington perhaps? It'll still be Puma stew for dinner. No matter what the weather.

2012 Rugby Championship Round 3 Game 2 NZ vs Argentina - 8 Sep

There's no doubt our comparative advantage is in our backs, but our forwards are still pretty good. The All Blacks generally go pretty well in bad conditions.

    Life after a ALL BLACK

Well, technically his one appearance off the bench makes him an All Black. Just. His style reminds me a bit of Ranger, brilliant one moment and sketchy the next.

2012 Super Rugby - crowds & TV viewer numbers

Yeah, but I don't have the channel that shows most of it. I see that every game is on the rugby channel which we don't have unfortunately. There is a highlights show once a week, which I sometimes get to see and I watch all the clips from the SAReferees site, which is basically the extent of...

2012 Super Rugby - crowds & TV viewer numbers

Just having a flick through the stats provided, I notice that the key stat that is used to support the contention that the CC is more popular than Super Rugby is the average TV audience. Average TV audience for CC = 466,388 Average TV audience for Super Rugby = 361,658...

    2012 – ITM CUP - NZ's 3rd Tier Competition

:):):) First time since 2008 I believe. On a related note; how good did Tanaka look? What chances of him getting picked up by a franchise next year?

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

So what? I thought there was a rule about playing the ball and not the man? Or does that not apply when its a kiwi making arguments you don't particularly like?

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

I a sure that Scorz was being Ironic, as evidenced by the wink smiley. I also agree with Scorz that a NZ/AUS only tourney would be more boring than an NZ/SA/AUS tourney. I also agree with Scorz that if NZ is to help grow the game, the first places would be in the Islands and in Asia...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

I guess the issue is that the rugby system in NZ is quite balanced at the moment. We have our premier domestic league involving AUS and SA that involves 5 super City based teams, and we have our second grade tournament that takes the game to the countryside. There is no reason that I can see...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

For a start, I don't quite see how you help us out with Netball since its an even split competition. Also, the reason that NZ has teams in those other leagues is because it is profitable for the owner of the competition to have another 4 million in its target audience. Don't give me this...

    $1 million Rugby Revolution

Is there any detail on what laws would be changed to make it more attacking? I think lower ranked tournaments tend to be more attacking anyway due to less efficient structures in defence (ala the ITM Cup). It would be defeating the purpose of a third tier if they are proposing to much about...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

2004, 2007 and 2011. Against that, you have to remember that 1999, 2000, and 2002 were also drawn, so if we are going down that track the great Wallaby reign of 1998-2002 doesn't look so impressive either. I personally think that a 3 match series is preferable to just 2. I'm not so...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

That is certainly part of it, but I would attack it at a different angle. Whilst NZ rugby fans are buzzing about the latest incarnation of the ITM Cup which as always is full of movement and tries and new superstars, Aussie fans have nothing to talk about apart from how dull it is and how...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

That is a fair point, and a valid reason why FTA coverage of those games is unlikely to fly. Still though, that's no reason to abandon the South Africans for the Super XV as some have suggested; and have a competition that is barely any more international than the League or the Football etc...

The dying - perhaps death - of Rugby in Australia.

I for one am very happy with the nature of both the Super 15 and the Rugby Championship. I would be very disappointed if the Saffers were dropped from both just so that the viewing times were a bit better. The greatest point of difference with rugby Union is its internationalism and this...
