    Crusaders (NZ) Rugby Team Thread.

His record now stands at 9 wins from 33 Super Rugby games

2024 Under 20 Rugby Champs all match discussion thread

Wow, some big upsets to wake up to. Lose one game in this format and you are just about done. There's a post on Reddit that gives this Aus team 33% of qualifying from here. Pretty much the same chance as France

    Australian Rugby / RA

I'd say there are many more than 50 pro rugby players from Queensland playing right now
  4. Strewthcobber

    Australian Rugby / RA

Elon could setup a pro team in Cambodia tomorrow if he offered enough money. In 2019, Queensland had 7,251 Senior male registered players. How many top quality players do they have?
  5. Strewthcobber

    Australian Rugby / RA

I don't really understand why it matters how many locals play rugby in an area. Pro teams aren't representative teams. Why would you restrict selection from a region?

    Refereeing decisions

Two refs a good thing? Depends if you want to see twice as many penalties as you do now, or not?

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Depends if you think EJ (Eddie Jones) is crazy or not
  8. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Schmidt's Wallaby trials start now. I reckon we will see quite different teams for the three tests in July, and we won't be able to read much into selections. Really happy for Liam Wright, but fair old chance this is not a long term appointment
  9. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Wales don't exactly have a huge travelling contingent like England, or even the local presence like Ireland. 35-40k is a pretty good crowd
  10. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Wales have named 22 year old Australian-born, England raised, with Welsh parents front rower Archie Griffin to start. Archie has never started a Premiership match in his 3 year career at Bath
  11. Strewthcobber

    Refereeing decisions

What really ruined them is someboby actually counted how many life-changing injuries were happening in the scrum and the sport realised they were not safe without being heavily supervised by the referee
  12. Strewthcobber

    Refereeing decisions

Scrums have been far better over the last couple of years. Refs should be credited with speeding that whole area of the game up. I realise I will probably have to disagree with myself in a couple of weeks time after NH ref's interpretations and NH teams visit us here
  13. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2024

They played Saitama in November in both the last couple of years. Guessing it will be similar to that
  14. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Doran's story on the roar has been updated. Frost missing selection all together, Cale coming off the bench. Seven debutantes
  15. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2024

With Gordon seemingly in the picture, it could even free up for McDermott to play for Reds v Wales. I could see Schmidt wanting McDermott+Lynagh getting a decent hitout against another test side, and seeing how White goes against Georgia
  16. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Maybe Schmidt doesn't know what full strength looks like yet?
  17. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Doran predicting a pretty experimental side for the first test against Wales. I've been wondering if we won't see most of the remaining squad get a run in one of these three tests. Schmidt will want to see where they are all at. Would it be crazy to run a completely non-Qld team against...
  18. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Yep. Sounds like it might be a Williams LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) locking combo (unless they counted wrong)
  19. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

Jake Gordon! Would have got long odds on that. Yellow cards in his last two starts for the Wobs Though he had a decent year, but it really is a new team now

    Waratahs 2025

There we go. Tahs back in the game. Les Kiss was appointed 19 July last year. Tahs are starting further back, but let's see where they can end up
