Melbourne Rebels Players - where are they going?

If there's 40 players looking for a job, and 11 have said no to the Tahs, does that mean the large majority would still like to go to the Tahs?

The chairman pushing centralization got sacked by the member unions and Super Rugby teams earlier this year didn't he?

The obvious rebuttal to all of this, is Australia's professional coaches, for 20 years now, don't think Shute.Shield, or any of our amateur competitions, are of sufficient quality to actually drive the improvement they are looking for. And the risk of injury is higher than any benefit. And they...

Jock re-signed yet? Or maybe JOC (James O'Connor) or Jock?

    Wallabies v Wales, 6 July

I'm optimistic too, he's a great coach, fingers crossed. But.... I read this almost exact comment about our kicking when Mick Byrne joined the Wallabies in 2016, and I don't think we saw much improvement there at all.

Remember what the Administrator found. The Rebels had been likely trading insolvent since 2018, and probably much earlier. They were operating only because the directors were injecting their own capital - largely Paul Doherty, and they stopped paying the ATO (in 2021) The Rebels accounts...

Seperate legal issues though. The administrator facilitates the Rebels taking RA to court. ASIC take the Rebels directors to court

Third deal I think. Two year deal initially. Extended by another year just before his debut, and then two years to 2025 when EJ (Eddie Jones) got excited

RA re-employed 80% of the Rebels staff on short term contracts to the end of June as well as the players, after the Rebels administrator made them all redundant in mid-Feb

Doran suggesting Wisemantel is the frontrunner for coach, and named droped Tupou, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Leota as players they are targeting.

    Wallabies 2024

Hopefully we are a bit beyond the days where the national coach would give someone feedback, and then their Super Rugby coach would play them in a completely different position, but I suspect probably not

Pretty relevant to the current conversation though. For management of the teams - Brumbies as it is line up with Welsh model, Tahs more like the Irish model. The governance of the union is different. We are a bit of a hybrid at the moment

Same story as us. How they are governed, and who makes the decisions.

Chances are they talk about it every time he drops the ball or misses a tackle though. And not in a complimentary way

    Queensland Reds 2025

Nowhere near that these days, and then only a smaller portion of that would be on the Reds books. But value wise, not worth much at all

It is interesting comparing Wales and Ireland. They generate pretty much the same revenue, but Wales gives a lot more to its "grassroots" clubs and administrators, and hence has less for the pro teams
