Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Bookies giving the Springboks the win by a converted try. Big test for Schmidt's new team

    Liam Wright too?
  3. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2025

The press release only mentions the Reds signing him, and only for the 2025 season. So I guess still on that original contract? (I do remember some reporting that RA was doing 50/50 split on Rebel's players, but that's still $300k for LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto))...

    Western Force 2025

Salary cap worked exactly as intended on that one
  5. Strewthcobber

    Western Force 2025

Yeah the reporting was the Tahs already had Edmed, Jack Bowen and Will Harrison under contract, so couldn't justify paying Donaldson as well.
  6. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2025

I wonder who is covering his $600k next year? He wasn't getting a top-up in Melbourne. I bet RA is covering some of it while in Red

    Western Force 2025

Most players that aren't getting a top-up would be on less than the $200k RA limit. But LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is a really good example. He was reportedly getting paid $600k, but wasn't getting a top-up (deals like this might explain why the Rebels ended up where they did)

    Western Force 2025

All Wallaby top-ups are excluded from the Super Rugby salary cap. Iain Payten reported last year re Donaldson..... The Tahs weren't willing to pay that much for Donaldson, and presumably, the Force were.

Is being the game manager of a great Brumbies team meant to be a criticism?
  10. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

For all the criticism of Lolesio, I think it's worth remembering that his record over the last year sits at 19 wins and 5 losses (and yes it's a team sport. He had very limited minutes in some of those matches etc etc) across tests, Super Rugby and in France. His pro career win rate is approaching 65%...

    Wallabies 2024

You keep saying this as if the players themselves have no autonomy. Gordon didn't want to stay. He was offered an amount of money, probably equivalent to the others, and he left despite that. The only reason they are better options is because the accepted RA's contractual offer
  12. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Fair enough. I guess you have to select a player who has never missed a single kick at test level.
  13. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Were they deemed better players? I thought Gordon left because he was hung out to dry by the previous coach, had a horrible experience at Wallaby level, and then his club team self-destructed, and as a result he was jack of the whole sport? He choose to leave, he wasn't forced out

    Wallabies 2024

A reddit poster has said Cale has recently been in hospital with an infected cut, hence he his being rested for the SA games. Anyone else heard this?
  15. Strewthcobber

    Western Force 2025

RA didn't seem to get in the way of Swain? The press release sounds like it's with a Wallaby top-up too?
  16. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Lynagh has the weakest goal kicking success rate of the three players mentioned by a fair distance
  17. Strewthcobber

    Wallabies 2024

Just about 17 weeks since the (re)injury. Has he found a good German doctor to have a look at it?
  18. Strewthcobber

    Waratahs 2025

Keep Angus Bell on the field, and they could be anything.
  19. Strewthcobber

    Waratahs 2025

What does it look like after 13 Achilles tendon ruptures?
  20. Strewthcobber

    Waratahs 2025

Maybe. RA will have a lot more money by this time next year, and will be planning for a WC. If I was a player I'd much rather be negotiating my next two year deal under those circumstances
