Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Yeah.....he did not see the first test as a development opportunity

If wiki is correct Tizzano is shorter and lighter than Michael Hooper. He must be the "smallest" Wallaby forward for a while?

    Refereeing decisions

I don't think that meets the definition of when the ball is out of the maul. So we are still in the maul phase. I do think there could be interesting situations where the ball is at the back of a maul, and an opposition player has come through the maul legally (noting you don't have to be...

    Refereeing decisions

This is the contradiction I'm talking about. We give a practical exemption, and even law clarifications for the half to touch the ball (presumably in the interest in letting a game of rugby occasionally break out), but it's still technically illegal for a halfback to put their hands on the ball...

    Refereeing decisions

Fundamentally, the laws don't define when the ball is out of the ruck. This leads to these weird contradictions in the laws, because the role of the halfback isn't what it was historically, but the laws haven't been updated. Historically the ball had to be heeled out of the ruck before the...

    Refereeing decisions

The laws are the same for both phases, but I agree they are reffed differently (particularly collapsing a ruck - it's never penalised)

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

At the ground it's evident just how much of a leadership, organisational and play-making role Wright has across the park, both in attack and defence. You can't really see it on TV. Sure he makes errors, but he's also running the show a lot of the time. With our relative lack of alpha-dogs at...

    Wallabies 2024

There's a balance here though, because get the breakdown wrong, and you end up with penalties, kicks to the corner, and mauls driving towards the line. And we really don't want to have mauls near our line at the moment

    Refereeing decisions

Am I reading too much into this, or can a play who is still part of the ruck play the opponent?

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Hopefully Rassie sees this as the development opportunity for his side this year after a huge Ireland series, and home games against the Argies. Just like 2022, I think we are a shout against the second side, but we can't live with the top team.

    Queensland Reds 2025

Don't think we will see much of either in Red next year, but I do reckon the winger with 16 tries from 34 matches gets a third highly paid contract, despite all the other limitations, while the one with zero tries from 29 matches gets lowballed by his team and has to find another side to play...

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

No, but I doubt that Japanese clubs even enforce their rights to release at this time of year anyway. They are much more concerned with the end of year tours

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Ironically enough South Africa have worked out a way of managing it. We will be playing against plenty of Euro and Japan based players this weekend. Not sure what they do different. They do have a time zone advantage for Euro players

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

He can only be released for 6 out of 8 weeks of the test window, and his French club is going to enforce it (as is their right). So he would have to fly from France, and back to France, three times in addition to flights to and from Argentina, and NZ, after only joining the squad 5 days before...

    Waratahs 2025

Because he had the role that Johnny Sexton wants next year

    Queensland Reds 2025

I'm not expecting any tries. I'm asking if there are any other Super Rugby wingers with 29 caps who haven't scored a try?
  17. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2025

Grealy has played 29 Super Rugby matches, started 15 of them, averages 46min per game across the 29. Sorry, what's harsh? The stat is the stat
  18. Strewthcobber

    Queensland Reds 2025

There can't be too many Super Rugby wingers with 29 matches and zero tries. I'm really surprised by that stat - he's clearly a good player

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Looks like it's already just about sold out (unless I'm doing the tickets wrong), which is an interesting situation given the clashes. TV ratings will be lower than they could be, but given this is all at the broadcasters request, they get what they get

Wallabies v Springboks, Sat 10th August 2.30pm AEST @ Suncorp,

Our broadcast partners Stan and Nine have a slightly larger world event currently underway that they don't want the rugby to clash with on Saturday night (as well as the NRL, which also rules out Fri and Sun evenings and Sat arvo)
