    Shute Shield 2018

Yes, I know that's the downside, but the current system just seems unfair. Rugby is supposed to be a game where both sides can contest every situation (compared to league where scrums and rucks are no longer contestable) and the quick tap just stands out IMO as a situation where one side has no...

Wish I'd thought of that. We should probably stop missing tackles and dropping the ball too. ;)

    Shute Shield 2018

Yep, that's my point. If a quick tap is taken 10-15m from the try line a try is almost inevitable and there is not much the defending team can do to stop it.

    Shute Shield 2018

I've decided I have a problem with the quick tap penalty within the attacking 22m area. The defence really doesn't have much chance to get back on side and if they tackle the player they cop a yellow card and potentially a penalty try as well. OK for the tap to continue as an option but the...

    Shute Shield 2018

From the ARU Wallabies archives: "During his coaching tenure Meagher employed a similar ‘running-Rugby’ style of play to that implemented by his former Wallaby captain A.C. Johnny Wallace during their tour to Great Britain in 1927-28. It was this style of Rugby that saw Randwick virtually...

I really don't care what jumper KB (Kurtley Beale) wears. He's played about 3 games for Randwick and I doubt he'll play any for Easts so what's the issue? Love seeing all the conspiracy theorists coming out of the woodwork again -- thought they'd all died off.

    Shute Shield 2018

Apparently the council has now said this can't go ahead. Given that there were apparently protracted negotiations to at first move the Rats v Souths game as the curtain raiser and when that fell through they tried for Norths v Wests, makes you wonder what took the council so long to decide it...

The ground announcer at Concord mentioned this several times on Saturday --- 5:30pm kickoff according to him. Lower grades at NSO.

    Shute Shield 2018

Whose bright idea was it to play 1st and 2nd colts at Concord today and move 3rd and 4th grade to St Luke's? Both colts games were little more than training runs for Wicks and were embarrassing to watch --- and Wicks rested half of their colts 1 players. I'm happy to see colts 1 at the main...

    2018 SYDNEY COLTS

What's happening at West Harbour Colts? 3rds forfeited today, 2nd grade lost a front rower after 5 minutes and didn't have a replacement so we had uncontested scrums all game. Wicks rested most of their Colts 1sts and but still piled on over 100 points.

They didn't do a game in round 2 due to the Commonwealth Games coverage so I assume round 3 will be up there shortly. PS: Enter "Shute Shield" in the SEARCH field on the 7PLUS website to find it.

    Shute Shield 2018

Wicks had an easy win in 2nd grade v Manly -- 9 or 10 tries to 2 or 3 (sorry, I lost count!) Wicks 1sts won 4 tries to 2 -- 8 or more debuts

They were all very enthusiastic about keeping the riff raff out --- especially around closing time for the pubs! We had a way in which avoided the entrance foyer, through the downstairs bowlers' bar and up the staff stairway. But now anyone can walk in and just sign the book as a temporary member.

And it's not only rugby clubs that have closed. Also look at bowling clubs, RSLs, tennis clubs, you name it. They've all been impacted by the reasons you've listed. I used to frequent the Taj Mahal (aka St George Leagues Club) where the waiting list to join was years long and you needed to be...
