    CAS Rugby 2022

The only one I know was that Knox beat Aloys by around 50-0. Credit to Aloys who kept going the whole game and were good spirited. They seem to have a good rugby programme for a smaller, academically focused school, but it can’t be fun getting smoked by the bigger schools each week. They...

    Any news from Aloys Knox?

Joeys 15Bs are playing Knox 15As.

Disappointing to see that Aloys aren’t fronting up A teams against Knox in the U14s or 15s. Doesn’t bode well for the depth of their programme in coming years.

Knox up 36-7 over Trinity. It should be 60 or so, but lots of errors in the conditions. Trinity not offering much. McLeod making 20 metres every time he gets the ball.

It must be time for schools and councils to think about more artificial pitches. Unfair to kids (and parents) to lose so much sport.

Pitch is holding up. Well done Knox groundskeepers.

That’s their Academy team. So they’ve brought the big guns.

Last game NSW 1 22 - 7 over Qld II. My son reports that ACT looked the most impressive today - I wonder if that is the Brumbies academy team or a 2nd XV as NSW has done.

ACT 22-5 over NSW JRU. Go the brumbies.

NSW Barbarians 29-0 over Vic in first game. Does not auger well for Vic team for this comp.

The speech that Andrew Cleverly made to the GPS and CAS teams at the end of the U16 final was telling. Basically a sales pitch to all the dual-path kids to consider sticking with Rugby given the opportunities of a Aus World Cup and Olympics coming up over the next few years.

I watched a few of those games but didn’t really notice him - tough to shine with a lot of talent around esp on the wing sometimes. But those Pats missing out is a big surprise - they are hugely talented boys. Wonder what happened there.

Yeesh. Gordon will be having nightmares about this one. Hope he shakes it off.

The 2 touchies were the only 2 people in the ground that through that kick went over. As a CAS parent will take it.

Was it really the first time in 10 years? It was a great game of footy - right down to the final play. CAS came out absolutely flying. The theme of the day was illustrated in the first minute - GPS swing it to Fittler at 12 from a scrum and he is instantly taken down in a superb chop tackle by...

On the fullback decision, pity it didn’t work out as I’m sure that kid would have torn up the U16 comp and given CAS a real shot at ousting GPS. Him at fullback with the ultra fast Knox 15 on the wing (or vice versa) would have been something to see.

The game of the first round is Pres B v ISA 1 - 11:10am on Saturday. The winner likely to play CAS in the semi. So Pres B has to do it the hard way for sure.

So the Sydney team has GPS players that didn’t make any of the GPS squads? Not a great sign for depth in the u18 SJRU.
