For me Barker looked to have the edge in the backs but Knox forwards looked a bit stronger. But pretty scrappy and lots of situational resets so who knows. The Barker 12 and 15 looked v strong and the Knox back row seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Any updates from Barker and Knox pre-season? How are the squads shaping up?

Knox play Newington, shore, joeys, oakhill and auggies pre season before Trinty in round 1. Some good hit-outs before CAS starts

He looked good in the Nat championship games. If true that would give Knox some serious depth up front.

Yeah… likely to prioritise Sanix which is good for pre-season. St Eddies would go through, they love that stuff.

Shame no one going. Grey, Hamilton, Millfield, Sedbergh - elite group. Would have been interesting to watch Barker, Joeys, Nudgee etc against them. Maybe next year.

Should make for good CAS / GPS / ISA comps for the next couple of years - real talent in all associations. Walsh, Conti and Woods in the ISA backline will be very tricky.

I heard from a Barker coach - 2 trials against GPS teams, then games against all ISA teams, then one round CAS.

A few CAS (and soon to be CAS) boys in the Gen Blue squad playing brumbies this weekend. The team looks fairly unstoppable after demolishing QLD.

I reckon Riley Caswell from the 15As will fill that #14 slot. Gun player - Gen Blue and Aus u15 league rep.

Grey College and Millfield were confirmed for the world schools cup in December in Thailand. Great for the comp with the two top teams from SA and England confirmed. Will Barker go do we think? The obvious choice from Aus. But given HSC and schoolies may not be in the best shape.

well… not sure about that. Knox and Waverley have a higher percentage of “home grown” fee paying kids in the A teams and 1sts, but they have much bigger male intake. The Barker model is needed by them to be competitive with the bigger schools. Agree nothing wrong with it, drives a better comp.

The Herald reported this morning that Barker is fully subscribed for a decade and is lobbing to increase intake caps. Sooo, that sugar rush seems to be working and might last a long time.

Does anyone know which AIS ground the games are on for Canberra locals? I can’t see anything on the AIS or brumbies site. Presumably not at GIO.

The Canberra schools already play in a strong, tiered comp mixed together with local clubs and incorporating a number of regional teams as well; south coast, Glouburn etc. It is one of the better balanced comps in the country. I doubt they will change. CAS / ISA / Sports high schools would be...

Yeah no idea how they compare schools across countries. Looking at the youtube videos I suspect the top SA teams such as Gray college would beat the Aus teams pretty handily. I heard that Barker is going to the Sanix comp in Japan next year so we will see - but will be a much depleted Barker unit.

Barker ranked #2 rugby school in the world for 2022 by NextGen. Joeys, Nudgee and Churchie the other Aus schools in the top 20. Knox nowhere to be seen but next year…. https://nextgenxv.com/2022/09/13/top-20-rugby-schools-in-the-world-2022/

CAS athletics tonight. Some v fast kids out here at SOPAC. The Knox winger Sherlock ran a new CAS open record with a 10.54. The Barker runner Bradshaw also broke the CAS record running a 10,68. In the U17s there was a Trinity boy named Ghisso who ran a 10.8 beating the Knox under 16 winger...
