If hypothetically KB (Kurtley Beale) is the starting 12, would it be Horne who plays at 13?

KB (Kurtley Beale) is a star going forward with the ball in two hands, but i'm not sure how his tackling goes when challenged for 80 minutes by some of the monsters running in that channel.

I just don't see Foley and Beale smashing back on their arse rampaging backrowers or Nonu-like 12s crash-balling through the 10-12 channel

I think Horne is crucial at 12 for his defence.

Against the better teams in particular, more try opportunities come from turnover ball than when the defence is set.

Horne making a strong tackle combined with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s excellent ability to win the ball at the ruck gives us that opportunity.

I think people underrate the attacking opportunity they provide the Waratahs based on their strong defence.

It wouldn't be wise to break up last year's centre pairing, Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) could/should flower this year into one of Super Rugby's best 12/13 combos. For mine, Beale should start at 10 or on the bench. This is all, of course, without the contribution of St Catastrophe of the Injuries, she has yet to speak.

If you are goping to pick players on whether they can put on a good shot and defend aggressively let them play that other game. For me I would prefer someone at 12 that can defend ok supported by strong backrowers and can blow a game apart with ball in hand supported by strong outside backs

Could Cheika be thinking about Beale, Horne, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) as his 12,13,14 until Crawford is fit enough to come back in?

I with the all the above that Horne, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) should be the centre combination if all our backline is fit but in Crawfords absence and a stubborn defensively orientated side in the Force first up Cheika may want as many creative players in his 15 as possible on Sunday week.

Horne was strong in both aspects last season. I think it's pretty much the consensus that 2013 was his best season of rugby.

He was good at straightening the attack and giving his outside men more space. He also distributed well. Aside from kicking, he did all the things you want a good 12 to do in rugby.

I disagree strongly that selecting Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) as the Tahs centre pairing has anything to do with playing negative rugby.

Beale might provide more flair at 12 but I doubt that would provide the Tahs with a better overall backline.

I though Horne played well last year. But he is steady at best.
But KB (Kurtley Beale) could really add something at 12.There is plenty of size and speed outside him, which could really benefit from him playing a second five role.
It could be something really special to watch.
We didn't rack up many 4 try bonus points last year did we?

No, but we had the most run metres and close to if not the most line breaks.

The problem was more around finishing opportunities than creating them.

I still stand by the point that many of the best try scoring opportunities in rugby now come from turnover ball and having players in the backline who can create turnovers is important.

That's pretty much my point,we had no trouble trundling up the field.
We needed a little more variety to actually get over the line.
Turnovers are important, but so is having players that are suited to a quick counter attack.
Who would you rather have the ball in open field KB (Kurtley Beale) or Horne?
KB (Kurtley Beale) is worth a trial or two at 12, it could be a revelation,if it isn't, what has been
lost?

That try was the best marketing campaign the Tahs have ever produced. Thousands of views on Facebook, clearly has hit the mark with rugby fans. Add that to a 2013 with plenty of sparkles and some good off-season purchases and I can see some sizeable crowds for the first few rounds.

The try was magnificent as was the half time entertainment.
I hope nsw rugby continue with the women's sevens at half time at home games.
Definitely sparked up the crowd and very good for the women's game
They were also very good and ferocious in their hits

That is bad news for Michael but at least outside centre it is an area of depth—or at least width—with the Tahs.

Very often these season-ending injuries present big problems for a Super Rugby squad but when it happens in an area of strength, it can sometimes serve to add a replacement player to another sector of the team that is not so well endowed.

This happened last year when a lineout specialist was needed and Chapman was cherry-picked from Japan to replace hooker Fitzpatrick.

It is sad to see quiet achiever Hodge injured so badly when one has seen him train his guts out for the 2013 and 2014 seasons without getting a gig.

I'm sure that we all wish him the best for a full recovery—and that it should happen sooner than we expect.
