This seems a bit left field to me. Why would we choose a lock who is 26 as a future developer (which is what he will be behind Douglas, Mumm and Jowitt) and who has had a series of bad knee injuries instead of Timani.

We took Cross over Staniforth presumably because Staniforth was too injury prone, but now we are taking someone who has so little gametime in the last four years that my first reaction was "who?". I note Hickey has picked him before in the U-21's so maybe he saw something then, but the Force are not so flush for locking talent that they would have discarded him if they thought he had any future.

Can someone who has been watching Northland in the ITM report back on his form? Please tell me he's a superstar in the making.

I don't see him as a "future developer", he is the pro who has been in programs, who has played at the level, he is there to play if we run out of others.

Vickerman's not returning until right near the back end of the competition. Basically he'll only have a handful of games to push for Wallaby selection.

It's a shame Pat O'Connor's Super 14 career at the Force was punctuated by injury. He had plenty of potential. I've watched some of those Northland ITM Cup matches and he's really shown some form lately. Very physical, good in the set piece and stands out around the park - does the hard yards - not a fancy Isaac Ross (although he'd be a reasonable acquisition if he wasn't already taken).

Great to see O'Connor get a contract. He played a few games for GPS in BrisVegas prior to his ITM stint. I think he'll be a solid acquisition if he remains injury free. But desperately sorry for Will Caldwell. I've always rated him - he sounds like a real 'salt of the earth' guy and and he would have been on last year's Spring Tour without this Crohn's crap. Get well soon mate. I'd like to see you in Wallaby colours because you deserve it (more so than some I could name). PS even though you're a Tah.....

Ever so slowly I feel 7s is gaining back some credibility.

The HSBC Junior Waratahs will launch their 2010-11 Sevens season when they take part in the Fitness First Central Coast Sevens at Wyong on Saturday.

The 16-team tournament is the first of four which the HSBC Junior Waratahs are scheduled to take part in, with the recent addition of Sevens into the Olympic program providing the impetus for an increased focus in the format.
While the 12-man squad has had little time time to gel, they are still aiming for a strong showing in the first tournament of the season.
Captain Ben Batger and John Grant will lead the way with both players looking to launch their aspirations for a place in the Australian Sevens team on the 2010-11 IRB circuit.
HSBC Junior Waratahs squad members Jacob Woodhouse, Miles McCaffrey, Damon Anderson, Greg Jeloudev, Tom Kingston and Maile Latekefu will also feature alongside Harry Bennett, Rohan Saifoloi, Macquire Tatola and schoolboy Ben Saunders.
“There’s going to be an increased focus on Sevens throughout Australia now that it’s an Olympic sport and these tournaments are going to be important to bring talented players through in structured and well-organised programs,” said Scott Bowen, NSW High Performance Manager.
“Guys like John Grant and Ben Batger are certainly on the radar of national selectors already, and some of the younger players in the squad have the opportunity to impress in tournaments such as these.”
Bowen added that while Sevens is seen largely as a specialist form of the game, it is still seen as a rich source of players who can make it in 15-man Rugby.
“Brackin Karauria-Henry and Pat McCutcheon have both earned Super Rugby contracts and been brought into Wallaby squads on the back of strong form in Sevens, and there’s a host of others such as Henry Vanderglas, Nick Phipps and James Stannard who have shown it’s possible to make it in both versions.”

Could someone please wake me when it's over? Different strokes for different folks I know, but I wouldn't walk across the road to watch it.

BR, Fully understand your views but 38000 punters make a pilgrimage to HK stadium every year for the 7's.

We Jarses appreciate both forms of the game as we do for proper and pajama Cricket.

Do not expect much from the Jarse's between Boxing Day + 5 days and when The New Years Day Test is on at SCG.

XV rugby will develop from interest in pajama rugby. 7's is an Olympic sport, XV's is not. We need to leverage off that to keep the game (XV and 7's) vibrant.

Who's the other Jarse? Bar?

Who's the other Jarse? Bar?

Plenty of other Jarses around Cyclo. My sister Barbara (AKA Bar) married my Bro-in Law Jack from the Schitt Family in the 90's.

WHO IS JACK SCHITT?
The lineage is finally revealed. Many people are at a loss for a response when someone says: "You don't know Jack Schitt." Now you can intellectually handle the situation.
Jack is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertiliser magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt Inc. They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt, the deeply religious couple produced 6 children: Holie Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Giva Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt.
Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school drop out. However, after being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later remarried Ted Sherlock and, because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock.
Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt and they produced a son of nervous disposition, Chicken Schitt. Two other of the 6 children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens wedding. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Hoarse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.
So now when someone says: "You don't know Jack Schitt," you can correct them.

We Jarses have also recently discovered connections into the Far family from Korea. My 2nd cousins Queue, Canal, Cough, and Cup from the Korean Far's were out here for the RWC03.

You really have too much time on your hands.
Are your in-laws related to Idonkiva Schitt...Ukrainian lass I seem to recall?

Just trying to establish a link from the brother in law Jack to the Indian Minister for the CGs Shiela Dikshit.

I think Jack has links into Ukraine. His grandfolks were from Prussia. Wouldn't be surprised if Idonkiva is related to Jack in some way.
