I'm cautiously optimistic about our chances this weekend. I think we should win, but IMHO what I really want to see is naked aggression at the breakdown, strong defense and a fluid, cohesive attack. Play with heart and guts. Go the extra mile and any other positive cliché you can think of.

Give us something to hang our hats on so we can say "Ok, that was impressive", or "I can really see things improving from game to game". Do that, and I'll cop a loss if that is how the rugby Gods are smiling.

Do anything less, and they can all get fucked.....

Wobs by 14.

And what will be the fall out if they fail to perform (again). You have stated your support for the coaching panel to continue unchanged. What will be the consequences of continued under performance? You have suggested what they can do and I am sure as highly paid famous sports people they already get more of that then the rest of us mere folicly weight challenged people.

Well, in a practical sense, I suspect the immediate fallout will be less bums on seats and a growing discontent in the media. You want me to walk into JON's office and demand satisfaction? If Deans gets the boot, it won't be because you want it to happen. Note above that I am not referring to the coaching panel; I'm referring to the playing group. Apart from a few little disagreements on these boards about the selection of a few players, this squad has the ability to win and win well.

I think Deans is on the right track, but at the end of the day he is not the one out there doing it. He can coach playing styles and patterns and manipulate the combinations. He can put together a game plan and team strategy. He can introduce new talent and trim the old guard. He can build muscles and fitness in the squad. He fucking well can not force someone to get angry and play with passion.

There has been a barrage of criticism leveled at the Wobs and I'm looking for a signal of intent from those guys. That has little to do with Deans and everything to do with these guys making a stand.

It has everything to do with Deans and the other selectors. That is my point. They continue to put out the same squad when will you and others accept that there is and has been no "signal" just a couple of false starts amoungst the dross. What will it take. When will the selectors be accountable for putting out the same squad again and again?

deans has gotta stay what hes done iss built a platform which will allow this young team to grow and learn together and ultimatly fight for each other
i hate to say it but this world cup might come a 2 yrs too early. its not happening as fast as we all want but short term pain = long term gain
i think what has happened at the reds in the last few years is a glowing example of this and even they might not peak for another year or two
we persist with this young team cause they will learn from their mistakes and grow to become more and more competitive.
baxters waughs dunnings didnt work back then and they wont work now and they sure as hell wont work in the future.
its a shitty situation and we could lose eveery game this year but ill still be up watching the games online continually hoping

EDIT: Yehh probably won't say that.

What I'm struggling to figure out - is why the Reds probable starting team for 2011 looks a hell of a lot better than the Wallaby team named for this weekend.

Aus v SA: Factfile and milestones
As the Springbok team continues to gain in experience and rack up Test caps by the fistful there are plenty of records and milestones being reached in almost every Test. Here is a list of records being broken and who is on the verge of making history this Saturday.

· This would be the sixth test match between Australia and South Africa at this venue. Australia won all five previous encounters with scores 32-20 (1997), 32-6 (1999), 29-9 (2003), 49-0 (2006) and 21-6 (2009).

· Eighteen tries were scored by them and they conceded only three tries – all of them in the test match in 1997. In the last four tests South Africa could not cross Australia’s try line.

· The losing margin of 49 in 2006 is the biggest losing margin against Australia in 68 tests and it is also South Africa’s second biggest losing margin against any team.

· During last year’s Vodacom Tri-Nations tournament the Springboks lost their only test of the tournament at this venue. South Africa’s only win at this venue was during the 2003 RWC when they triumphed 60-10 against Samoa.

· South Africa’s Vodacom Tri-Nations record against Australia is: Played 31; Won 16; Lost 14; Drawn 1. Tries scored 60 and tries conceded 67.

Milestones and Record Watch

· Victor Matfield will play his 20th test against Australia thereby equalling Percy Montgomery’s record of most capped Springbok against Australia.

· This test will also be Matfield’s 39th Vodacom Tri-Nations test, the third most capped player in the tournament with Stephen Larkham. George Gregan (48) and George Smith (41) being the top two players.

· Bryan Habana needs one try to become South Africa’s most prolific try scorer in tests. Bryan currently shares the record with Joost van der Westhuizen on 38 test tries. Bryan will equal Breyton Paulse’s record of most capped Springbok wing in this test.

· Morné Steyn is one of only eight players who scored more than 100 career points in the Vodacom Tri-Nations (114 in 8 appearances). Dan Carter tops the list with 383 points in 27 appearances. Morné needs one drop goal to equal André Pretorius’ tournament record of four career drop goals.

· Should CJ van der Linde score a try, he will equal the Springbok record for most tries in tests as a prop. The current record is jointly held by Chris Koch and Os du Randt with five career tries.

· Should John Smit score a try, he will equal the Springbok record for most tries in tests as a hooker. The current record is jointly held by James Dalton and Bismarck du Plessis with five career tries. John will be playing in his 25th Vodacom Tri-Nations test as captain, the most capped captain in the tournament.

· Should Pierre Spies score a try, he will become the sole Springbok record holder for most tries in tests as an eighthman. The current record of six career tries is jointly held by Gary Teichmann, Joe van Niekerk, Bob Skinstad and Spies.

· The career record of tries scored in the Vodacom Tri-Nations is 16 by Christian Cullen. The most career tries by a Springbok are seven scored by Breyton Paulse, Jaque Fourie and Bryan Habana.

Other notable record holders are:

· Jaque Fourie: Most tries in tests as a centre – 24; also most capped Springbok centre – 48.
· Butch James: Most capped Springbok flyhalf – 34.
· John Smit: Most capped Springbok hooker – 83, most capped Springbok forward – 98; and most capped Springbok captain – 72 which is also a World record.
· Victor Matfield: Most capped Springbok lock – 97.
· Schalk Burger: Most tries in tests as a flank – 11, also most capped Springbok flank – 58.

The first part dont look that good , time for the Bokke to set the Brisbane ghost away.

We seem somehow to have lost our underdog status for this test. How the HELL did that happen??

We're not struggling to figure why you think that

I'm gonna need a definition for 'didn't work back then'. Baxter and Waugh had a pretty good s14 season this year, and the winning percentages have not exactly been better without them in the team.

Apart from that, welcome aboard, and I like your optimism.

Centrebet this morning:

AUSTRALIA 1.80
SOUTH AFRICA 2.00

Bookies don't lie. They make money.
The closer it gets the more faith I start to lose. At least this weekend I'll watch the test live and can at least throw some empties at the TV this time. The game starts later compare to the previous two.

I've been off air the last couple of days and have only just now seen the Wobs team line-up on SMH Rugby Heaven. In the photo captions they have O'Connor playing at 12. This cannot be, I thought to myself. Gits out of the team. Hooray for Robbie. Alas no, it was just a typo.

Jokes aside, I sure hope that they have a strong belief in themselves as I (and a fair spread of contributors here) surely don't. I fear a Boks side with a dented pride. I too cannot understand how we came to lose the underdog status. My heart is with the Wobs but my money is on the Boks.
