Wallabies v Georgia 20 July - Allianz Stadium 3.45PM

Thought him deathstaring him as he brought his knee up was the prosecution's killer evidence tbh

Watching as the guy ducked into his knee, you mean? The ball just missed Filipo's fingers.

We're at the point where trying to charge down a kick isn't worth the risk.

Watching this try again, the lack of effort by Lancaster and Wright getting back go the ball annoys me, hope JS rips into them in the review of this one.

It's very poor, particularly from Wright given his experience. As BR says maybe there was something up with him so let's wait and see, maybe Donno put his boots on the wrong feet as well.

Re Lancaster, overall he was OK but he didn't do anything to jump out at us to say he has to stay there. He's a future project IMO.

Doesn't Wright just not want to over run Lancaster when he gets the ball and gets tackled there?

At the ground Lancaster was head in hands by himself for ages after that

It's a 50-50 at best I think, and probably not worth the risk.

At least Lolo makes touch, even if its only 20m away

Sure, Shiggins.

On the other hand, it's always frustrating to hit the Kiwis or Saffers raw. I like having a small set of games up our sleaves as preparation. Schmidt has had a chance at least to get closer to what his top 15/23 is AND to give them some experience developing combinations.

You may well be right, but we are pretty much as well prepared as we can be.

So, grit your teeth, buckle down for the unlikely chances coming... and let's get behind the Gold.
Unfortunately we warmed up against Wales and Georgia, and they warmed up against England and Ireland.

It was fair. He led with the knee and collected his head. Stupid play from FD.

And isn't that three games in a row where he's given away penalties (for foul play) contesting his opposite number? Of course that same 'eagerness' did result in a try the game before...

I thought Blyth was very underwhelming. I think he will struggle to hold his place assuming there is an injection of OS players for RC.

I think the problem is the raised knee. I know te wingers do it to protect themselves but - in this case - it only served to make his charge down far more dangerous.
Part of the discussion the ref had when reviewing the replays was whether 'it was a realistic attempt'. I'd argue if you are the last person to actually touch the ball then it was realistic. Not saying it's not a card but that coupled with the Georgia player essentially putting his head directly in to traffic (unluckily for both) is some mitigation.

Hasn’t he been suspended or red carded for a similar contact previously? It was unfortunate but he was leading with his knee at head height. He was very late.
TBF he was showing the same sort of eagerness up until that point in this game as well. He is playing very well.
