Yeah thanks - read tomikin's post before diving in: he doesn't say he has earned (past tense) it he says he doesn't have to.
Quite a difference.

Yeah, because he already has by being the form Australian winger in Super Rugby over 2-3 seasons - consistently.

Can this team beat the ABs? Without: Stephen Moore, TPN, David Pocock, Quade Cooper, Matt To'omua and Henry Speight?

I cant see why To'omua wouldn't play. He should easily recover from his concussion.

IMO

Carter out (of the 23) - Horwill and Simmons to start
Phipps to start with Genia to bench over White

Same Backrow Scrubber? I thought Higgers was ok. Good with ball in hand but one thing I noticed was that he had his head out of the scrum nearly the whole game. I tend to think he's still a better bench player. Palu or McCalman at 8 for me

Same reason Palu didn't make the tour. They are 100% fine but can't risk the chance of another concussion in the match.

To'omua wasn't subbed for concussion though. He was tested and past but kept on the bench anyway. If he was able to play on the weekend, he should be more likely to be fit for the next game.

I find that odd.
They are at the same risk next time they play - or is the point that because they've had a knock they are more vulnerable?
Were the foxtel commentators calling the game from Sydney, BTW?

They're at far more risk from a second knock soon after a concussion.

It's also possible that players can pass a concussion test but still suffer ongoing effects. That was the situation with Palu and why he was rested from the tour.

I thought three of them were over in Mendoza and McCardle, Horan and Kearns or whoever it was were in a studio in Sydney.

I think the reason he didn't go back on at Mendoza was so as not to risk him for this game..we are pretty short on options at 12 unless we go with bobs idea so I think he will play but expect him to be sporting headgear from now on.

Last time NZL lost two games back to back.

20/8/2011 SAF 18 - NZL 5
27/8/2011 AUS 25 - NZL 20

It was a RWC year. Did they really care losing 2 on the trot?

Sorry to quote all the way from page 1 but if there is one certain and inalienable truth, and that is the All Blacks always care about losing. ;)

no but presumably the reason it is worn by those more susceptible to concussion is to lessen the risk, even if it is only by a small amount..I've never worn it but I think if I was fearing concussion I would..Palu & McCabe both do for example..

If the game was on this weekend I would think that To'omua, whilst being fit to play, might be rested as Querty suggests, but I'm hoping the extra week off will allow him to play.

He's pretty important to our chances on the weekend. The options are pretty poor after To'omua.
Beale - unlikely to be in the squad and I reckon he'd be a disaster starting against the All Blacks
Horne - was poor there on the weekend and only weakens our kicking options (which would be bad given how poorly we've kicked this year)
Lilo - probably the best option but is really yet to have a stand-out game at 12 this season.
Godwin - injured
McCabe - retired
