U18 Academy Games and Australia U18s

I was referring to the “Academy Series” of 2 games to be shortly played, I’ve heard a few names picked (with many not due to committing to league Harold Matts and SG Ball) and training underway ….

Last year they picked the top (perceived at the time) players and then announced the PONI squad….

Not sure how Charlie Ulqou can play for the Under 18 when hes playing for the Northampton Saints in the UK on the weekend...... :)

Heinz Lemoto being heavily pursued by French clubs. Anyone able to get around the paywall to work out how real this is?
This is the crux of the story….

But what appeared to be a choice between the codes on home soil has shifted for Lemoto, with at least two major clubs in France’s Top 14 having also made offers for the western Sydney youngster to move to Europe.
Lemoto is seriously considering the option of playing in France, according to an informed source who requested anonymity to speak freely.

Lemoto was recently taken on by Entourage Management, who have a large number of Australian clients playing overseas, particularly in France. That group includes the Sydney-raised Manny Meafou, who now plays for the French national team after becoming eligible via residency.

It would be a hard but exciting gig for an 18-year-old, he would have to learn French and quickly! as in the French academies all communication is in French, where in the top 14 they use interpreters hired by the clubs. Can't blame the kid playing one week in Paris, the next Toulon and holidays in Spain and Portugal! flip side is play at Penrith Park and then up and down eastern seaboard.

The exciting part is the 0s on the offer.

The NRL is not afraid to offer marquee youth talent contracts. Jack Howarth is on 500k out of School and has only in the back half of last season looked like an NRL standard player. He'd already made 1m. When you consider a side like Penrith which has money to spend now with recent departures and recent history of success he's in one hell of a spot.

Hopefully with another year of School Rugby can keep at him as well. Use the Lions tour to get these guys in change rooms and corporate areas and show them what can be on offer.

I will say my only concern with Heinz and senior Rugby could be height in the backrow. If someone knows his height please correct me but he doesn't seem that tall which is an issue as a no.8 but not in League as a Prop or Backrower. I also get that he is still growing.

He must be 6'3, I think.

Exactly, why would you want to like in the Riff compared to France.
