Who are all of these strange little people posting on this thread? Please, learn from me and see how to contribute quality, award winning posts.

I'm glad the Crusaders are in the final - it's a sure thing sell out and beating the Crusaders will mean a lot more in a World Cup year than just beating the most famous Super Rugby team. Come on RedsHappy, you gunna agree with me or what?

Hi everyone.
Consider this a blanket warning - any more personal pot-shots will be carded.
Any more repetitive crap on the ref topic will be carded.
Any more general shit-stirring will be carded.

Very cyclopathic of you, you crazy eye!

Not that I want to dwell on this ref issue (as the issue seems to have been hacked to death of those board) but I would like to add some food for thought. I personally dont like to worry about the ref too much in most games. they are professionals and generally I have confidence that theyll do the best job they can on the day to call it down the middle. it doesn't bother me that refs aren't neutral. And I try not to blame the ref, even when I feel hard done by, because if you cant dominate the game enough to take the ref out of it then it's anyone game.

However, it does concern me that a Kiwi is reffing this game simply because this is such a huge game for NZ rugby. This game means everything, not just to the downtrodden citizens of Christchurch, but to the whole of NZ who desperately want 2011 to be NZ's year. I think deep down Bryce would like to see the Crusaders win this comp for the people of Christchurch. I'm certainly not suggesting he wont try to be impartial but he may subconsciously shy away from any controversial decisions, or the NZ public will crucify him.

Put it this way, if he's placed in the same situation as Dicko was in, with 1 minute to go in the game, do you think he'll blow his whistle against McCaw and hand the game to the Reds? ......i hope so.

HAhaha I love how paranoid everyone has become. Anyway, I sorta hope NSW beat QLD on Wednesday night, that way everyone in Brisbane is going to turn to the Reds as the saviour of QLD sport. The Reds win. Rugby popularity goes through the roof. League disbands and player numbers flock to union. Brisbane starts it's own national rugby competition from the left over league players. Reds playing stocks are in check for the next 10 years. The Reds go onto win the next 10 Super Rugby titles overtaking the Crusaders petty attempt of number of Super Rugby titles. Quade Cooper retires. The Reds finish bottom of the table in 2022.

Here's a funny thought: imagine Quade Cooper as a 33 year old attempting to do his skips and hops and steps.

I doubt his kness will hold out that long!

2 best 5/8's in world rugby up against each other.. If the last Reds v Crusaders game is anything to go by, this will be a cracker

I was thinking about this today. It's not just that they're both at the point end of 5/8's but that they contrast so much in style. It's hard to believe they play the same position

Just realised almost all of Queenslands best performance's this year have come in the big games, ie: Stormers, Crusaders, Blues, Waratahs

This gives me a lot of confidence as a side as young as the Reds can step up in the big games on a consistant basis

Let's hope the Crusaders have been reading the NZ Herald.... perhaps Link should print this story out and stick it up in the Reds sheds to use as motivation actually.

Is this bloke serious??

The Crusaders will win the Super 15 title and for the best possible reason. They'll win because they are the best side in the Super 15 by a country mile. All the earthquake and its aftermath did was give the other sides more of a chance by forcing, and encouraging, the Crusaders to undergo a draining travel schedule and robbing them of certain extra points against the Hurricanes.

The Crusaders will hold the trophy aloft yet again - the precocious, speedy but underpowered Reds have little chance, despite home advantage.

With a home ground, these Crusaders would have secured a final on it and there isn't a team in this Super 15 who could beat them in Christchurch. Todd Blackadder's squad has thrived on adversity and a packed Suncorp Stadium will only encourage their test-hardened lineup while the home side is the one more likely to be anxious and overawed.

On the other side of the coin, the Blues were atrocious in Brisbane.....

Mate, I agree with you on most things. (In fact, I have been somewhat concerned at your relatively low profile on these boards of late. As the Reds' success has grown in 2011, you seem to have become more subdued, in contrast to your most notable and distinguished 2010 persona which I recall as way more prominent and Reds-promoting at every turn.). Back to the facts of today: a 2011 Reds Win No 2 re Cru would as you suggest decisively thrust Australian rugby to the forefront of the RWC stakes, provided that once we move into Wallaby mode the best 'player pods' of the Reds' winning experience are not broken up by a Wallabies team that is way too Reds-lite (and you know I think Horwill should be made Wallaby Captain forthwith, his track record at consistent winning of very tough games is far superior to any other candidate). For what it's worth, I assess Dan and Richie to be just a shade off their absolute peaks, the multi-carat diamond lustre there is not quite what it was just a couple of years back. If the very best of the Reds' players beat them twice this year, once in a Final, we may just have built an unprecedented psychological edge over them come September and October, and combine that with decisive wins over the Chiefs and twice over the Blues (both providing 2011 ABs), and a Reds-infused Wallabies could be far more potent than at any time since, say, '99. Which, and I say this for pre-emptive board-calming-down purposes, is not to deny the major role non-Reds Wallabies will surely play, but I do think your point re a twice-beaten Cru (should it occur) by an Aus S15 team (once in a Final in this scenario) all just before a RWC, could lend immense support to our RWC cause.

And I'm concerned about how he (Bryce) is going to deal with a Stadium packed with Reds supporters booing every decision that goes against the Reds and the pressure that comes with that. For the love of God there are so many things that could go either way when it comes to the referee, in the end I think they all tend to cancel each other out.

...plus some of the Comments under the article are highly amusing. It is fascinating how virtually no credit is given to the Reds for beating the Blues, it's overwhelmingly 'those badly coached, idiot Blues, with many poor players, cocked it up'.

He's not a journo, he's Chris Rattue...

NZ's version of a sports shock jock that is there to wind up all and sundry. There wouldn't be too many Saders supporters that would be sitting back reading that and thinking "all is sweet as this Saturday".
