Yawn.

Anyone watching this?

Clash of the Barrets.

Boring. I'll be mowin, clippin', cuttin', sweepin' and waterin' instead.

Kings by 1.

Here. First.

Pat's back. How long before he breaks again? Was hoping he would have a solid season.

Blues leading 24-18 after a solid first half effort. Still far too many silly moments when they turn off and concede points or momentum, however.

Yep. Blues have been far more prudent in their offloads today than usual and it's paying off as the Cheetahs looks to be wilting under the combined stress of the Blues pressure and jet lag.

EDIT: And as I say that the Cheetahs score a try. Lets see how the Blues react.....

Blues reply with ineffectual attack and concede a string on penalties to end up on their own try line but are let off by the Cheetahs who concede their own needless penalty. As with last week they seem to have assumed the game is in the bag and checked out for the day.

EDIT: It's happened again. As I say that the Blues score a break out try which is converted to extend the led to 50-25.

50 points. Cheetahs can take their meticulously organized rolling maul and bugger off back to Bloemfoentein with it. The good guys have countered the Orange Free State’s dreary exploitation of arcane law chicanery with glorious running rugby, no suspect subterfuge in sight, just running and passing the rugby football all up and down Eden Park.

Time for some mild stattage. Sunday 14th May will mark one calendar year since the Blues last lost to an international opponent, when they were beaten 43-5 by the Lions. Since then they have defeated nine international teams on the bounce with an average score of 35-20. Over the same time period they lost all of their seven NZ derbies by an average score of 29-22.

Copied from the Brums v Lions thread, possibly more relevant here:

"Fardy having a brow-furrowed roar at the ref after every single whistle blast is not a flash look.

"STUPID BRUMBIES.

"You had ONE THING you had to do.

"ONE THING.

"Now the eventual bedraggled NZ conf winners, after masticating upon each other’s bovine extremities for a few more rounds, will have to traipse over to Bokkeland for playoff matchess while the Lions get to now return back to their Lilliputian conference and a casual awfternoon canter past the Kings, Sunwolves etc en route to a gifted top seed berth without having to play a single fucking NZ team all season WFT HAPPENED TO THIS COMPETITION.

"I think that whole Brumbies team must be virgins. Not one of those drongos could score in a brothel, even with 15 strap-ons strapped all over their bodies."

Lions remaining fixtures:

Bulls at home
Kings at home
Sunwolves at home
Sharks away

Crusaders remaining fixtures:

Hurricanes at home
Chiefs in Suva
Rebels away
Highlanders at home
Hurricanes away

So, yeah, hard to see Crusaders not dropping at least one & as many as three of those to finish at best second overall. That said, if they have to travel to SA for the GF having played home QF & SF, I'd rate them a better than even chance of doing it. Same goes for the Hurricanes who I still think will be the top NZ side (& yes, my flight to Pitcairn leaves shortly, pretty sure I can make it to the airport without these guys catching up with me)
