Francis has been cleared to play despite his head knock last week, and we also have the debut appearance for the Blues Designated Messiah 2017, Stephen Perofeta. All hands to the hype train. The brakes have been removed and we are ready to roll.

Very excited to see Perofeta debut. He's scored 5 tries in the last two weeks of club rugby. It balances out the frustration of seeing Collins start and Nanai not in the 23.

"Pair-o-feet" - very appropriate for a No 10. Very good player also at U20s level. Interesting to see how he copes in the big league. Maybe better than his Aussie counterparts. His partner in crime at the U20s though, Jordie B, has certainly come up with the goods.

Interesting, this:

"Despite nine matches with all 18 teams in action, SANZAAR has omitted South African referee Jaco van Heerden and TMO Shaun Veldsman from duty in Round 14."

Surely they haven't been dropped though WOB. I am constantly reminded by others that the refs allocation is made weeks in advance and that their disappearance from the roster is nothing more than where they are due for a rest on the roster. Very prescient roster I have to say, or is it just that all refs know that they have a rest coming up so they put in a shocker the week before just to get up everyone's noses?

I see Otere Black is comign to Auckland too. Is Perofeta 2017DM or 2018DM? He hasnt played yet so how can he be 2017DM? Might have to reconvene the Auckland Blues Designated Messiah Family Tree Genealogists

Perofeta was -- in keeping with tradition -- originally ordained as the Blues Designated Messiah (BDM) 2017 prior to the start of the season. However the Blues Messiah Designation Committee is prepared to accept that his lack of game time will mean he is also eligible for the position of BDM 2018.

Faaaark, the Bloooos are dumb sometimes. Hot on attack, push a 10% pass, turnover, Chiefs Jailbreak to the other end!
I'm calling Code Blue for Dismal.

So the Blues charge down a Chiefs clearing kick inside the Chiefs 22. Were this just about any other team in the competition, that ball would've sat up for one of the three Blues players to walk in and score under the posts. But this is the Blues. The Blues playing against another NZ team. So the ball, naturally, goes straight back to the kicker (James Lowe) who breaks down field and sets up a try.

Blues must've seriously pissed off Tyche, Fortuna and every other luck administering deity.
