So the breakdown is:

Fullback: 1 (Aplon and Lambie cover)
Wings: 4
Centres: 1 (problem area big time)
Second 5's: 1 (Steyn covers - thin)
10's: 3 (Lambie and Jantjes - one too many)
Halfbacks: 2 (assuming Pienaar as halfback only)

No 8: 2
Blindside: 1
Openside: 2
Utility back row: 1 (Alberts)
Lock: 4
TH: 1
LH: 2
Utility front row: 1
Hookers: 3

The selection of Kankoswki is questionable. Maybe Rossouw would have been a better selection over one of them. They are both specialist 8's.

Biiiiig worry as 12 and 13.

The 13 cupboard is bare as can be. The starting outside centers for the big 5 provinces are (1) WP : Jaque Fourie/Juan de Jongh (both injured) (2) Free State : Robert Ebersohn (has never lived up to the hype) (3) Waylon Murray (faded after a promising start when pared with Barrit at the Sharks) (4) Natal : Stefan Terblanche (is 387 years old) and (5) Bulls : Jaco Pretorius (cart horse who never lived up to the hype following his move from the Lions to the Bulls)

We are in deep deep shit. Adi Jacobs is the only 13 to call up, and he hasn't played in what seems like a year. So we either play him (fuck!) or we move F Steyn to inside center, move Jean to ouside center, and have to play Aplon at fullback (fuck!). Other options are calling up a fullback like maybe Conrad Jantjes if Steyn goes to 12? Or Lambie at fullback?

Blue do you reckon Habana could make a move to 13 for the tour with JDV at 12

Habana at 13 on defense will be a disaster. 13 requires a lot of defenseive organisation these days amd he often makes error of judgement on thw wing (his pace hides a lot of this).

It was been spoken about for years and if it hasn't happened by now I don't think it ever will.

Adi Jacobs has been drafted as cover. Oh deary, deary me. Not as bad as Pie eater, but they reckon Adi is a speed bump up North and will target him big tme if he plays.

I liked Adi Jacobs back in the day he was so rapid,

Yeah I agree about Habana he likes rushing up on the blitz but got found out this year a few times.

Eberson hasn't fulfilled his potential then, he looked pretty handy at the 2009 JWC

How did that Bulls winger go in the CC that was so good in the S14?

Gerhard Van Den Heever or something

Lee Grant

John Eales (66)
Anyone have a guess at the starting XV? Whatever it is they would have been good to play against in Bloem.

Disappointing from the few times I saw him

Lwazi Mvovo from the Sharks is the best young winger at the moment followed by Bjorn Basson. Both are on the EOYT bus.

I will have a go assuming all on the current list are fit:
15. F Steyn
14. Aplon
13. J de Jongh
12. JdV
11. Habs
10. M Steyn (personally I would like to see Lambie get the job but they wonlt risk it first up)
9. Hougaard
8. Spies (I would start Willem Alberts)
7. Juan
6. Schulk
5. Boss man
4. Headcase
3. Jannie
2. Battleship
1. Beast

16. Ruan Pienaar
17. Pat Lambie
18. Flip vd Merwe (Maybe Alberts as he covers lock)
19. Kankowski
20. Keegan Daniel (I think he is goign to have a specific job on tour to increase the heat at the breakdown in the last 15. He is fin
ally fulfilling his promise I reckon and was a genuince pest at the b-down in the semi and final. Completely outplayed Stegman and F Louw. Must have burgled the pill three times on his own goal line in the final)
21. Chillboy
22. CJ vd Linde (big pussy but there you go)

That is the conservative and hence most likely route.

It's a good team provided they play an intrelligent game plan. On the evidence of the last six matches, this is not a possibility.

Thanks Blue - that 1st XV is not as depleted as I thought provided JdJ is healthy. The devil may be in the reserves not having the punch that a normal Bok bench would have.

Am still a bit bemused about the omission of D.Rossouw from the tour despite the reasons given.

Agree with your comments about Lwazi Mvovo (whose name I cunningly copied and pasted) - he's a talent isn't he?

Looking forward to the test against Ireland. I usually go for the SH teams but I have some kind of a mystical link to Ireland and will be going for them. I think an Irish convict must have taken advantage of a female forbear with his blarney.

We all hove our skeletons. Trust me, mine are much, much worse.

One somehow can't help but have a soft spot for the Irish.

I would have left Bakkies and taken Danie a a starter.

That team can beat the Irish on paper. What they run our and do on the field is the trouble.

PS Frans Steyn only join the squad next week so step up young Patrick Lambie.

This tour really is make and break for the Boks, it's where they finally get their depth and find their mojo.

If they don't, the 3Ns next year might be too late.

On a side note, what does Duane Vermeulen have to do to get a cap!

Not a bad effort Blou. Myself wants the Bokke to change their gameplan now. Lampie has convinsed me after the CC final to get a run in 10. He sure as hell made his stepup on every level and change to throw him on test level. Plays much flatter compare to Morne which is the right way if you want to play the phase game and also defensive. He showed his BMT in semis in rain against the Brutes and have been outstanding with the Sharks backline which on paper is no comparison to the Brutes or WP. The idea of this tour is to give youngsters like him a change, myself wants him in 10 and as much as possible close to the action. Maybe Morne they can try in 12 if needed. I'll move Muskiet to 15 with Frans not available for this one and Basson on the wing.

Paarl do you have some inside info abouit the injury?
The telephone wires must have been crossed.

Schalk and Juan de Jongh now officially gone. Broken rib for Schalkie and fracture in the ankle for de Jongh. Stegmann, Adi Jacobs, and Jane Kirchner all added to the touring team. The centers are a huge concern now!
