If there's any way we can re-badge Onse Wiantjie, I'm up for it. Feed him spuds instead of pap, we'll have him Irished up in no time.

Looking at the complete footage of last weekend's match, I'd have to say ROG, Stringer, Mushy and Leamy are on fire.

LHP Wian du Preez doesn't have a cap for the Boks yet does he? But he'll have to stay a while to qualify on residency unless you find him an Irish grandmother. Better scrummager than Marcus??

I think that both Stringer and ROG had profited from TOL's injury. Stringer's round arm pass without meerkating or doing the two step is getting the ball quicker to ROG; so he is getting more time - and the better he is going the more confidence Stringer gets and round and round it goes.

I get the feeling that Deccie might go with 9. Reddan and 10. Sexton though. I never thought a whole lot about Sexton until this season but think he's the real deal now. He might use Boss as an impact replacement from the bench too; so Stringer could miss out on the 22.

Have no idea of what the backrow will be. As soon as you think about leaving one of the half dozen out you have to take pause.

Aaah - thanks for that. It's why T78 was talking about "re-badging" him.

He looks pretty handy playing for Munster, I'll say that. Talking of Sowerby he's playing a lot better for Toulouse than he played in Super rugby, even trying to factor in the different standards of Top 14 and Super rugby. The same for Diack in Ulster.

What a luxury for the Toulouse coach to be able to choose between Sowerby and Picamoles to play no. 8 every weekend. Can't think of a professional team that has a better choice of players to play eighthman. Both specialists there too.

Wian has been capped.

He will be another Shaun Sowerby. Good enough to play for his adopted home, but can't because of a few minutes in a Bok jersey.

He has little to no chance of ever playing for the Boks with a host of players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Well, he went toe-to-toe with Carl Hayman last weekend, with Hayman binding on the arm all day, and did well enough to break Hayman's bind and make sure Hayman got no change. He's a better scrummager than Beast. Great pick-and-go for O'Driscoll's try, too. He's one you've let go that you should have kept.

It has nothing to do with his scrummaging ability. I said they are above him in the pecking order, not necessarily that they are better. He should have been second in line behind Guthro.

There are more than him better than Beast but that is irrelevant because they are all lilly white.

Dropping like flies.

JP Pietersen also out of tour with hamstring injury.

Now Habana will definitely tour...

Who is out so far?

John Smit, Guthro Steenkamp, Andries Bekker, Heinrich Brussouw, Fourie du Preez, Butch James, Jaque Fourie, Wynand Olivier, JP Pieterson.

I miss anyone?

About right Rusty. Maybe you can enquire if they'll send over Anquan Boldin as outside back cover?

Habana looked better than he has in a long time in last week's CC semi-final.

The "official" word is still that the top contracted player's won't tour but with all these guys out I think guys like Schalk, Matfield and Habana will be on the plane.

Bakkies Botha: Forgive me SA

Bakkies Botha and Jimmy Cowan (Gallo Images)

Philip de Bruin

Cape Town – “God is merciful and we need to ask his forgiveness only once. Unfortunately some people don’t accept it that way and they expect you to repeatedly ask forgiveness.”

Those are the words of controversial Springbok and Blue Bulls lock Bakkies Botha in the latest edition of Christian magazine Juig!.

He talks about his “flesh that became weak”.

Botha was specifically referring to the incident in July in which he headbutted All Black scrumhalf Jimmy Cowan in the first minute of a Tri-Nations Test. The incident made headlines in rugby countries all over the world and Botha was suspended for a lengthy period.

He says the aspect that really disappointed him about the headbutting is that he “disappointed so many people, but also failed my Creator”.

He would never have been able to endure the time on the sidelines had it not been for “God’s love and my wife Carien”.

“A part of the process was to ask God’s forgiveness. I did that straight away in my hotel room after the match. And later also apologised to the parties involved. That is why I’m so shattered by the headbutting incident – I allowed the flesh to take over,” said Botha.

“The Holy Spirit convinced me how wrong it was and I was literally sick with disappointment in myself. Everybody wants to know what I thought when I headbutted Jimmy. Nothing! I just did not think! If only I did!

“I want to tell people how big God’s grace is. If someone like Bakkies Botha is good enough for Him, then everyone is good enough for Him!”

and in the comments from Chris from Oz

I forgave you for eye gouging Brendon Cannon. I forgave you when you hit Phil Waugh with the elbow. I forgave you when you struck Sterling Mortlock. I forgave you when you slapped Ryan Kankowski. I forgave you when you injured Adam Jones. I forgave you for the embarrasing Justice 4 spectacle. I forgave you after you recieved a ban for dangerously clearing out Aplon. I forgave you for the numerous yellow cards for dangerous or negative play you received. So how many times do YOU plan on continuing to ask for my forgiveness. The headbutt was the last straw. You're a vuilgat and will always be. I do not want you anywhere near a Springbok jersey. You are a liability for the Boks. The Springboks can not continue to play with 14 men, but I hope you get a red card in the first few minutes of the first tour game.

Very entertaining. Moron. Just not the religious angle. Embarrassing. Keep it to yourself, son.

For everyone's entertainment a "vuilgat" is literally a "dirty arse".

I agree with Chris. Bakkies should never be in a Bok jersey again.

It's a matter of time before his next blowup, or weakness of flesh. Whatever.

He was hopeless for the Bulls in the fist half last week in the Semi final and got subbed at 42 mins.

The comment on that is gold. Can someone send 'Chris' a link to G&GR?

As for Bakkies I just shake my head.

Some of the comments on that site are priceless. On both sides of the lunatic fringe.

Blah, blah, blah, blah, Bakkies will be back. He is loooooong forgotten by this Bok supporter and will aim to win another World Cup next year. We need his grunt and hopefull he learned his lesson and will stay within the laws. Just take a leaf out of Schalks book.

Now there's a worry.

Bakkies is a great player, but he's also a liability to the Boks. I know his go is to sail very close to the line between hardness and thuggery, but I shake my head sometimes. If he can't find a way to channel that aggression and put into pulverising blokes legally then he shouldn't be selected.
