TR, I'm always at Colts and don't have my pulse on goings-on at grade as you do. But well played in First Grade, Gordon.

Why isn't big Steve Cummins back playing 1's. He has played 2's the last two weeks and I thought his form at the Aussie C'ships demanded he be in 1's.

Is that Blocker Jnr playing loosehead for Easts? Has he played any first grade this year?

That's him. I think it is his debut. He has been around the world for sixpence since he appeared for the Aussie schools a few years ago. He quit union in 2007 and joined the Cronulla Sharks. Since then he has had stints in Ulster, France and the Pirates 2's. He needs to settle down.

That is indeed Blocker jnr playing LH for Easts. He has been in 2nd grade but has had a few runs in 1s off the bench. Ofa has been the main starting LHP.

Anybody know what has happened to Huxley - Trist playing Fullback for Uni ??

Hux has a bit of a groin strain so not playing this week. Trist is back to his best after recovering from an ACL reconstruction in the off season so gets to resume his favourite position, at least for this week.

Tis him. Young Blocker looked to have a promising future in rugby after making Oz Schoolboys in 2006. The Tahs gave him a run in a junior preseason game in 07 but he looked all at sea. He registered for Northern Suburbs that year before turning to the dark side at Cronulla. The brutalities of under 20 qualification saw him cut from their Toyota Cup side the next year and he returned to rugby. Blocker Senior and Matt Williams are good mates, so off to Ulster for young Blocker, in their senior squad! Once again he wasn't good enough and turned up for the Pirates in 2009 where he could only crack Seconds. For the 2009/10 NH season he had a run for Monteux in the French Division III. This year he's at Eastern Suburbs (will he be/is he Compass III?) and I must confess the few times I've seen him run on late in the game in Ones he's looked quite good.

The moral of this tale: props take a long time to come good and, yes, he needs to settle down. Preferably back with his junior clubmates at West Harbour. If you're any good we'll get you a Wobbly jumper, BJ.

I notice Mark Swanapoel is playing 5/8 for Manly ! A former Oz Schoolboys #9,Swannie unfortunately suffered a bad knee injury off-season in 2007 which ruined his chances of back-to-back selections for the Schoolds team.A very powerfully built half-back,I am not sure if 5/8 is his possie though.Good luck to him.
A question please.Living in Qld., I enjoyed watching the Sydney club rugby ( being an old Sydney boy) on ABC HD,howevr, since the advent of their new all News Channel, the rugby is no longer !! Have they punted it ( pun intended) somewhere else ??
Go The 'wicks !!!

Yeah I was annoyed about that over here in the West too. I now have to resort going the iView option on my Internets.

The Shute Shield is only shown in NSW and ACT now. We were really enjoying the games when they were shown on ABC HD. I wonder why the ARU do not talk to the ABC about showing it on ABC 2? Or on Fox. Or any bloody where, really.

Thanks for that.It really is a pity as now that the S14 season is over and the rep players filter back to the Grade sides there is some great rugby to be watched.Another thing,do they still televise the Joeys - Riverview match ??

Last weeks ABC match East v Woodies was the best quality game I have in the last few years. It was great footy to watch.

Missed the Beasts vs Woodies match last week - bugger.

There have been some top games from the Shute Shield this year.
The recent Uni vs the Wicks game was a humdinger.

If the weather holds, the Wicks vs the Hobbits should be a good'un as well.

A fitting curtain raiser for a hoped for Gold Rush in Melbourne later tomorrow night.

I stumbled upon the NZ NPC championship game Canterbury vs Hawkes Bay earlier tonight on Fox sports. It was not a bad game, but I reckon the better Sydney clubs would hold their own against them.

Fantastic win by the Pirates Colts IIIs, inflicted Gordon's first defeat of the season. Pirates Colts Is too good for Gordon, although Gordon did score an excellent length-of-the-field try at the death and then knocked over the conversion from the sideline to earn a bonus point.

TR, I'm always at Colts and don't have my pulse on goings-on at grade as you do. But well played in First Grade, Gordon.

Devastated I couldn't have been there for the 3rds game...

Anybody know where I can have a small wager or two on the Shute Shield games. Could get on with Centrebet last year but can't find anywhere for this year. I do think that the Hobbits are specials today.

Well if you took the Hobbits, you would have made some very tidy money. Not as much as you well get by taking the Highlanders tomorrow of course :D
