The Moore thing is wrong. He's playing for QLD Uni this weekend. Named on the bench but likely to start with James Hanson in the backrow.

I still remember Hanson dominating for the Melbourne Rebs in the ARC. I'm still surprised he isn't a someone in the Wallaby world yet.

Gits will be at Randwick training tonight. Obviously not likely to play, but would be a handy sub for Jock to throw on with 20 to go against Easts. Brent Kelly will be stoked - he runs out of puff after waddling across the sideline for kickoff.

It'd be good to see him run on for the Wicks. Imagine him playing for them in the finals against Uni who have their fair share of stars. It'd be a classic.

SD#8 is Ita Vaea - in Brumbies academy this year. I think he has been Souths best player.
Manly Prop - do you mean Salesi Manu from Aust U20 or Eddie Aholelei?

Dylan Sigg and Greg Petersen both schoolboys reps have been playing well. Sigg is about 24 and has shown potential. Next couple of years will be key for him. Locks in the cauldron should be mature players.
Seilala Lam is another austschools and U/20s player. Discarded by the Brumbies but a real talent. Salesi Manu, Elvis Taione and Eddie Alolelei are the most underated frontrow in club rugby.
Last weekend souths and manly played. Best 2 for me were the No8s.

• Dylan Sigg - He's been in the Tahs stable before and I can't work out why he hasn't been nabbed. He's an athletic type lock, not the hard nosed TH lock type, and could play 6. Mumm has that role for the Tahs but you'd think other outfits would be nibbling.

Tom Alexander would be a good TH lock for somebody. I thought he was a bit of a short arse but he's 195cms and 113kgs (down from 120kgs 6 months ago). A bit of talent in the family with brother Ben a Wallaby and brother Hugh, the Knox hooker and captain.

• I don't think that front row is underated by too many any more though Manu has to play in 2nd Grade now with Fairbrother available at THP and Eddie A going back to LHP.

• I wish I wasn't so lazy on Saturday and gone down to Manly Oval to see the game against Souths. So, you were at the game lily? Did anybody else go? The scrum contest would have been a bit of a fizzer because Samo got an early red card for a pretty ugly spear tackle by all accounts. I heard that Robbie Horne played at 12 and that would have been something to see.

• Those two no. 8s are something else aren't they, and both have Brumbies connections.

Manly's Tevita Metuisela is a half brother of Tyrone and George Smith and was a shadow Oz Schools player before he went into the league wilderness for about 5 -6 years. Now that Marlon S has gone off to France TM can play in his best position - 8. He went into the Brumbies academy last year (IIRR) when he got back from league but they don't seem to want to sign him. Hard bastard - do we need any of those anywhere?.

I've talked about South's Ita Vaea before. He is an outstanding prospect and not mentioned by the Brumbies yet as moving into the pro academy from the amateur ranks. He's only 21 and he will nabbed by somebody soon. Maybe Tonga will cap him as he has played U/20s for them. Fingers out please somebody.

Should be a good game Rats v Manly on Saturday but with Sheehan suspended and he so influential playing flyhalf currently, I don't fancy our chances against the Blue filth.

Yeah I was there Lee. Horne was quiet although he did score a try. Sisa Waqa scored a good try. Glad to see him back. Iremember him from 2blues colts, unfortunately played for Fiji so his Brumbies oportunity last year fell through.
Lee and anyone else whos interested check the match report and photos in Manly Daily on Tuesday. God only knows how the tackle was considered on a low scale. A disgrace.
Metuisela has been on fire the last month starting with a dominant performance against Randwick. Apparently he got injured last year, this is the reason given in the Manly Daily for his flicking by the Brumbies.

Just watching last weeks game on the ABC website.

Rodney Blake and for all his merits is one lazy fellow. Great ball runner but he just loiters around rucks with no intention to do much of anything. He is either unfit or needs a serious briefing on a prop's priorities.

Go Marlins. Sorry Lee but with a team which has this many current and ex professional players your team should be winning more games.
Holmes, Holmes, Cowan. Whalley, Hockings, Thomson, Lipman, Robinson, Sheehan, Harris, Saig, Roepana, Mc Cabe as well as guys like JK and BM in seconds.

That's cruel lily. Put the boot in why don't you to an old defenceless Rat? Boo Hoo, hoo.

You're drawing a bit of a long bow there - it's hardly a pantheon of great Oz Super 14 players, if that is not an oxymoron, but it's a good sentence.

McCabe is the exception and Sheehan (for this level) would have been also because he is probably the most valuable Shute Shield player for his team that I can think of taking 10 seconds to think about it. I put his goal kicking into that assessment also. As soon as I heard that Sheehan was suspended I knew we would be in trouble and we will be for a bit longer also. I agree with his suspension though: referee abuse should not not be tolerated unless you have paid good money to do so.

No - no correspondence is needed folks. It was a joke.

As for the others on the list: AJ couldn't play and we had to use a THP who I last saw playing 3rd grade, Thomson has gone offshore, Saig (is that shorthand for Haig Sare to distinguish him from brother Will - who would be Swill? I like it.) is out for a long time and who the hell are JK and BM?: Kennedy and McGarrity? As I said: a long bow.

The Rats played about as well as I thought they could but the Blue Filth were too good. They were too strong and powerful near our line and, except for a couple of times surprisingly, the same at the other end.

The Rats missed too many tackles but credit has to go to the guys in blue running with the ball and using it so that shoulders couldn't be used.

lilly - I thought your fellows were damn good for most of the match. The two grunts we have been giving wraps to had good games. 8 Metuisela ran strongly until he damaged himself and LHP Edo A had another blinder, though playing hurt.

Big guy NN, who I gave a serve to on another thread impressed me because he went looking for work and succeed in getting some.

D'Arcy played well but what has gone wrong with his goal kicking? It was worse than Dan Carter's later on in the day.

Manly are looking the real deal. They faded last year after a good start because they didn't know how to play at the money end of the comp - something Southern Districts seems to be having trouble with this year - but that's behind them now.

At least the Rats have something going for them: with Murphy and Hockings we have the ugliest 2nd row in the comp - and there is stiff competition.

As a retired piggy, there is nothing better than to see a show pony pretty boy goal kicker really blow a place kick.

D'Arcy's last 2 attempts set a new benchmark in shockers. Any of the front rowers would have done better.

Carter also caught D'Arcy's disease but nowhere as bad.

Just the sort of thing to warm the cockles of this old piggies heart.

As a goalkicker, I think those are ridiculous calls (although I can tell they were in jest).

Goalkicking is a very tough thing to master, and I often think pigs dont give backs enough credit for good tactical and goal kicking.

It's like a back saying "There's nothing better than seeing some neanderthal prop get his head buried in the turf."

Guilty as charged, behind every piggy frustrated with the pretty boys is a jealous bastard.

You have to feel sorry for poor Mr D'Arcy though.

Shocking goal kicks from the piggies are normally limited to the warm up time at training.

Yeah, theres always one prop who has hoop dreams and dicks around at 10 at training.

And the drop goals. So many people practice drop goals before a game yet never even attempt them.

Ah well, thats rugby (Y)

Everyone likes drop goals, they just sadly come often at the detriment of tries.

My brother is a place kicking loose-head prop. Hit 2 droppies in a 7s tournament the other week. I was disgusted.
