I don't recall reading how the ARU found out the alleged breach. Does it have a salary cap auditor like the NRL? Was it a whistleblower?

Yes, but how do the ARU grow the new franchises if they allow a system that doesn't let them compete with the established franchises?

If you let the everyone spend as much money as they want, the established franchises will be able to spend more on players and theoretically achieve better results. They then can afford to spend even more money and the newer franchises from non rugby cities will never be able to compete.

I would be less in favour of a salary cap if we had five rugby cities but we don't. Something has to be done to create a level playing field.

This is where it all gets awkward as some franchises have their house in order and that should have it's rewards and on the other hand, equallity in the system is just as important. Finding world peace would probably be easier than finding a solution to this.

Just a thought but to offset a salary cap maybe a local product quota could be introduced? We need to build the grass roots base across the locations of the franchises in order to prosper long term. Having super rugby players play their club rugby in the state they are contracted to should also happen. I can see this upsetting a lot of seflf interest but the game is bigger than any one club or player.

If it was McKibbin, the extra money probably prevented him from going to another franchise. Who was after him?

You guys think it was McKibbon based on some computer geek choosing his pic to put PdV's face on?

The aru should be directing funds into growing rugby in the 3 smaller franchises to bring them upto speed with the larger ones rather than restricting the larger ones, which will almost insure no Australian team wins the super rugby.

methnks this one is getting swept under the carpet. Still no response from the ARU, surely it shouldn't take this long....

Hey if FWA can take years to investigate a certain MP (Moana Pasifika), well then the ARU should be allowed to release their findings probably between xmas and new year ;)
