Both teams have more firepower out wide than the ADF could deploy in the defence of the "Brisbane Line".

Being a round 1 game, the defences can sometimes be a little disorganised with some tackles not made and holes appearing that are not there in later rounds.

Both teams have the ability to easily score > 5 tries with 28 grammes of luck. With hot conditions forecast, defences could tire leaving holes, and become less dominant in the tackle contest.

With a tryfest being >8 tries, and given the scenario above, I can see a tryfest happening, even though the Ponies have been responsible for some of the most boring (or strategically intense) rugby recently played in Australia.

I hope there isn't the usual derby casualty list, there'll be more than a few players out there who need some uninterrupted rugby to get there form right for the world cup

Being Canberra, how good would it be to see another curtain raiser from Parliamentary House polies, staff and employees?

There would be some ginger if it was a Front Bench vs Back Bench game, especially if a certain former Sydney Uni Prop from St Johns College was involved. :)

Wouldn't need a secret ballot to determine a leaders popularity, especially if it was refereed and played under 1978 rules.

Khunt to win it off his own back. He doesn't understand losing. ;)

Matt To'omua will be very motivated to outplay K Hunt. Together with Pocock I reckon karmichael will be under all sorts of pressure.

One of Hunts greatest attributes (and he has plenty) is his composure under pressure. The targetting of him will open gaps for inside and outside runners

Realistically To'omua is under the greatest threat of losing his WC starting position to K, so I think he will be very keyed up for a big performance.

The Wallabies incumbent 12 is under threat of losing his spot to a guy who has only played 2 trial games -1 at fullback, the other at flyhalf in a sport he last played in 2010...

Correct, in my humble opinion.

Only slightly more at risk than Foley, Cooper, Beale and Folau. Leali'ifano realistically has already lost his spot to Hunt.

Maybe we should be asking who is still a chance to keep their spot from Hunt? ;)

Slipper, Moore and Kepu are safe from him for now, but it doesn't look good for Horwill/Simmons/Carter/Skelton.

In all seriousness the guys most in danger of losing 'their spots' come world cup time are specialist wingers who don't have much utility, I doubt there'll be room for more than two in the squad (probably Speight and Cummins) but that might be pushing it in the small RWC squad.

I feel gutted for that bloke who the second string 10 behind Hunt at the Reds. I mean, half a trail match and you slip from being a Wallaby 10 to a second fiddle at Super Rugby level, Ouch! :p

Well, judging by the reputation he is building up here, I think the whole backline just might as well sign up now with some French teams.

I'm happy to let it play-out.

Having watched a fair bit of him over the years, I am quietly confident in his ability to be within the top seven backs in Australian rugby in one season.

But, like everything time will tell.

Either way, it is going to be a great contest. I hope we bring the kitchen sink.
