Crusaders played almost a totally NH style of game today. Three tries of rolling mauls - really not the done thing. Their backline attack is essentially yo go wide to one wing, followed by going wide next phase to the other wing. Really only look dangerous in attack when they run back from a kick. Would be a travesty if they win the comp playing that style of rugby.

Personally I don't give a shit how they win it-by 1 point, by 100 points, by a drop goal, hair dyed blonde, wearing multi-coloured boots, whatever. A win is a win.

FFS, some of you Reds fans need a big can of harden the fuck up. The score line was ugly, the ball control in the backs was ugly and yeah it was hard to watch. Under that was a gutsy and spirited performance. We were pushing shit up hill when we lost Lucas, then we copped an avalanche of the same shit when we lost Taps. Gale was set to have a hard night at the office being so inexperienced in an already depleted back line, let alone losing both his fives. Put some context into it and stop acting like fucking armchair cowards. Our forwards played a bloody good game, hard to fault the set piece and we ate their lineout alive and crapped it out in the same movement. I thought our aggression was up and they really dug in.

The most cowardly fucking thing I saw all night was Richard Graham's half time interview. He basically through his captain under the bus, questioning his decision making in public. Get fucked Richard Graham, you don't deserve the faith of the locker room.

The Reds throughout the season have given the faithful plenty of reasons to cry in their milk (like last weeks gutless shit for example) but tonight I thought they dug in.

Good effort boys and tonight just wasn't our night.

For the Reds players who played their final game for us tonight, cheers for all you have given in the Reds jersey and all the best for the future.

Good win Tahs, you did what you needed to do and all the best for your finals campaign.

Just read Georgina Robinson's article stating that after Tapuai left the field the Reds had none of their first-choice backline out there? Fark...

Their forward pack got through a lot of work as I predicted, and Cheika will actually be thankful that his lineout and scrum got some of its errors pointed out at this late stage, because now he has time to correct them.

The lineout in particular shows the value of Dennis - Hoiles is good but the skipper was the primary caller.

I read earlier in the week that Cheika was going to get Skelton to do some of the lineout work as well, so perhaps there were other elements at play.

I agree with get fucked graham but there were blokes out there tonight who produced nothing but garbage.
Squad & coaching changes are required before we can rise again. The whole place stinks now. As does going from semi-finalists to 13th.

And fuck your can of harden up - how about a dose of scoreboard reality!

I havent seen any team in any sport so poor at their chosen field as this reds team.

The line out, scrum and maul are just about the only things that are functional.

Utter disgrace.

I disagree.

Great line out. Did we still 4 of there's also? The scrum was strong. The forwards were also strong in tight and also won a fair few pilfers. Forwards put on some big hits. Seemed to have reasonable possession and must have been close of superior in territory.

Backs constantly threw passes behind the man, and I won't excuse a new flyhalf. It's a basic skill. Of we lacked direction or ability to spread the ball wide enough from 10 that would be understandable. In addition there was no cohesion.

Despite the forward set piece dominance and parity around the ground we struggled to compete due to skills (though our forwards skill and passing was good for forwards) and lack of ability to create anything.

The same players were adequate under a different mentor though.

Well, we share some common ground at least (scrum, line out ). I didn't go into details, but it is the very basic stuff like passing, defence etc I am disappointed with. I.e our skills. I haven't seen a team devoid of the very basics before.

Congrats Tahs on the conference win.

Fuck me our backs were dire. Understandable when you consider our backline at halftime was:

15 Tualagi
14 Davies
13 Kerevi
12 Johnson
11 Turner
10 Harris
9 Gale

Try picking that at the start of the year. Gale impressed though. Davies might as well have been on Air France. JJT was rightly pulled. Diabolical.

Kev and Beau were just bloody outstanding. Bravo. gill was good when he came on.

Just back from the game. Worst I have seen the tahs play this year. Maybe understandable in the circumstances but we will need to be miles better in a fortnight.

As for the reds, what a terrible season for them. The players tonight need to learn how to catch and pass. I get they are missing almost a whole team but it was low quality tonight. I feel sorry for guys like gill, slipper and Simmons. Their line out was great.

Also, what about the ref. needed to look at almost everything on replay multiple times before making a decision. Slowed the game immensely.

Probably the most gutless Reds performance I've ever seen against NSW.

That was not gutless!!! The Reds had a real go tonight. Look at Beau's face; he was like a maniac at the ruck tonight - half of it illegal - but not in the least lacking in courage. There were lots like him out there.

When people get angry because their team lost the first thing they do is question their players' commitment. Maybe you could try to make that comment last week, but even then I doubt the case would stick. But this week that claim would get laughed out of court.

The actual problem is clear. They don't lack courage, they lack basic skills and a gameplan. I haven't seen the stats but I suspect the Tahs only made four clean linebreaks. And they scored four tries. The Reds backline dropped the ball for virtually every chance they had of breaking through. If Graham lasts till next year nothing will change. They'll play with passion, but will lose repeatedly. And because of their poor conditioning, they'll get injured. Graham will do what he did to the Wallabies, the Force and now the Reds - turn them into a clueless rabble. A courageous, committed rabble but a rabble nonetheless.

Welcome to the world of the Tahs after they hoisted Link and especially 2012.

Just watched the replay.:(

Reds had butter fingers the whole night. Plus injuries, being unconfident, and just an all round disappointing and sad way to finish a dour 2014. I know the likes of Slipper and Browning have been fucking outstanding this year. I hope both wear gold sometime very soon.

Hats off to Scott Gale on his debut. I thought he was excellent in certain areas throughout the game, his passing is very good. I hope the Reds keep him, but knowing things at the moment, he'll probably end up in Melbourne.

JJ Taulagi can be outstanding in attack, but fuck his defence is poor at times.

One thing I notice was how well the Tahs kept the ball in hand, completed with several off-loads. Cam Crawford was superb in this along with the back row. The Reds went to ground too often, which just slowed the game down.

All in all, bad luck Reds, I'm not going to bag them any further. I just hope they have a fucking good pre-season in 2015, with Richard Graham probably coaching a 3rd grade side in Japan. Reds just need a chance to re-group and away from the lime-light.

I still have faith.

I was too busy adding my insightful comments to this thread: what exactly did Graham say?
If I had his record I would be pretty circumspect in my public criticism of anyone, unless I'd already been told to have a look on "seek". The chairman did say Graham had the board's full support - and we all know what that means.

I think JackPot will start and this will immediately improve the lineout (along with a bit of time at training).

Like other posters suggested the reds forwards actually put in a very spirited performance and have one of the best lineouts in the comp. It was promising that the tahs lineout improved alot in the last 30. Hoiles actualy got a steal and chapman for douglas provide more speed of movement. Hooper actually missed a lift in one of the earlier line outs as did big willie.

They will have every reason to be a bit crisper in a fortnight.

On a side note fuck it was dissapointing to see simmons penalised for that tackle on TPN and that second yellow card was a disgrace. I wouldnt have carded kepu eithier fuck me its not soccer
