Cordingley did a very good job at the Rebels, only one really dodgy buy and one that didn't do as well as expected.
So how would you rate his performance at the reds With kkhunt ,JOC (James O'Connor) ,Harris , Lucas , Anae, quirk and all the others that where asked to take pay cuts to get the first two notables.

As if he'd leave Clermont.

For mine, Sam Windsor is the one you guys should be after. 27, well experienced, sigmed a 1 year deal for Ulster. If you'd match his wages, I reckon that you could probably secure some sort of release from Ulster, given he's a NIQ, and Piutau is not getting his NZRU contract renewed, so they could sign him on a year early.

This is all rather intriguing - one senses the ARU and QRU have split re the QC (Quade Cooper) current situation. And what a vast contrast in tone in the ARU's way of publicly relating to QC (Quade Cooper) vs the appalling media release yesterday re him from the QRU.

Quade Cooper Olympic sevens bid closer as Australian Rugby Union fights to keep him in the country

Vince Rugari AAP June 22, 2015 6:59PM

THE Rio Olympics beckons for Quade Cooper after the Wallabies five-eighth’s long-running contract saga took yet another twist.

The day after the Queensland Reds exited talks with Cooper’s management citing “unrealistic expectations”, the Australian Rugby union has pledged to find a way to keep him in Australian rugby. The most likely way for that to happen involves rugby sevens. Cooper, who has signed a two-year deal with French powerhouse Toulon after the World Cup, has long harboured dreams of representing Australia at the Olympics — and that possibility has been at the heart of talks between his manager Khoder Nasser and the ARU, which remain ongoing.

In a statement, ARU general manager Rob Clarke said Cooper now has to “consider a new landscape” after the Reds severed all ties with the player.

“We would love for Quade to continue to play his rugby in Australia and we make no secret of the fact that we are looking to bolster our Sevens squad for our Rio campaign,” ARU general manager Rob Clarke said.

“However what we have put in front of him is a long-term deal that looks well beyond 2016 and the Olympic Games.

“We respect the QRU’s position, but ultimately he is now a free agent and has to consider a new landscape.

“The decision sits with him as to which road he wants to take, but he will do so knowing that the head coach of the Wallabies and the ARU is fully supportive of Quade playing for Australia, from Australia.”

Nasser’s other big-name client, All Blacks superstar Sonny Bill Williams, is reportedly set to miss the next Super Rugby season to focus on making New Zealand’s sevens team for Rio.

Cooper could do the same while still fulfilling his commitments with Toulon.

That’s not to mention the likelihood that Cooper’s Wallabies career will extend beyond 2015, provided he can earn seven more caps before the end of the World Cup to qualify for the ARU’s new eligibility rules for overseas players.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika said: “The ARU wants Quade to continue playing in Australia.” “We have been discussing seriously with Quade and his management about a long-term deal to play his rugby in Australia, so obviously I am disappointed reading the papers this morning — I know we’ve tabled a really fair offer which Quade has been strongly considering.

“If he does eventually go to France and is playing well enough, who knows, he may well be selected via the 60-cap rule if he is available.” Whatever the outcome, Cooper has certainly played his last game for the Reds after 10 seasons and 107 provincial appearances. His loss is a bitter blow both on and off the field for Queensland, in tandem with the departures of James Horwill and Will Genia, who will both play in Europe next year."

Certainly sheds some light on potential "unrealistic expectations".

it may well be as others have speculated that the "unrealistic expectation" was indeed RG staying as head coach or it could have been a release clause allowing him to play 7's next year and return to the reds in 2017.

So the QRU put out a poisonus missive late on a Sunday which is totally rejected by the ARU 24 hours later, fuck they must feel like mugs.

After reports of Carmichael's altercations with fans at games and now this, there seems to be some increasingly erratic behaviour emanating from Ballymore.

I hold no hope for a reasonable outcome based on fact or honesty from the soon to be completed review.

I know it's frustrating but a decision was needed, the QRU can't make an offer to Thomson until they know whether they need to use that foreign marquee spot for Quade's replacement, until they know what's happening with Thomson they can't lock away other back row positions like Lolo, Browning and Shatz. Not to mention a sizeable chunk of salary cap that could be used to recruit/retain players in other positions.

I remember back in 2005? when Wendell was in drawn out negotiations with the Reds, they had to sit on making an offer to Digby Ioane who eventually signed with the Force. In the end Wendell signed with NSW and the Reds were left with no Wendell and no Digby.

I would have thought the coaching decision was a greater priority and that could have settled a few playing roster decisions as well.

You have to wonder if Carmichael's tenure as CEO is closer to the end than the start.

He's overseen a sharp drop on Link's departure, loss of a number of home grown stars (some always were inevitable), a massive uproar from the states clubs on state affiliation fees, rumoured altercations with club officials, the Hunt drugs saga and the lettuce leaf reaction, the Graham coaching saga dragging on, 2 years of pitiful results and now this which is looking more and more that the QRU will be left with egg on their faces.

I've been a supporter but I'm certainly beginning to turn. The fees was the start for me. Keeping and supporting Hunt did not sit well either.

Holy shit Cote, you must be worked up to post. Better open a bottle of red partake of a glass or two and have a little lie down. :)

I'm really sad to see Quade leave us, I thought his best days were still to come.

It's time to forget it though and move on, none of us have been in the rooms and unless any of you guys are Quade, Jim Carmichael, or Khoder then we're all talking out of our arses.

We could be focusing on exciting new prospects and team make up. Hanson, Quade, Horwill, Genia, probably Tapuai, and probably a few others are leaving which is sad but also a HUGE chunk of the salary cap. A few of the up and comers will get pay rises deservedly so (Kerevi especially), but we could be about to see some of the next Australian stars come through. A few signings of experienced players and a new coach and we could be in for some interesting years.

I can no longer stand by and watch the current QRU management continue to make a mockery of rugby in Qld.

The press release last night was indefensible. As I said, there now seems to be a pattern of increasingly erratic and unprofessional behaviour emanating from the office which is a new and even more worrying development than the dire state of on field performances.

If you think there's any sort of strategic planning going at the QRU you've got fucking rocks in your head.

I wonder how long it took them to come up with the name Trinh-Duc to feed to Wayne Smith in this morning's Oz? In order to make the morning print run about 2 hours presumably.

Quade sets up via 7's and Toulon (is it right that he could do 7's and Toulon together?). Carmichael stuffs around slowly drowning but finally the true fans are able to give him the single finger by the end of season '16.

Hopefully something sensible happens re HC, Blackadder maybe. :)

New management welcomes the return of QC (Quade Cooper).

The rat that left the sinking ship returns. Dru purchases a membership for 2017. :) :) :)

Oh, and I need to dig into this sevens stuff.

Cordingley has too much say with the recontracting of players.

There are a few experienced lads who aren't being shown any respect by him re. their future at the Reds.

SC has played these shenanigans before, like with Albert Anae and left a bad taste in many player's mouths.

I know what you're saying, but contracting is his role isn't it?

I do worry that we are focussing too much on the next gen and are losing too many of that experienced middle tier of players (ala Anae etc).
