I think you might be right. I guess my point is that right now, we do have the team, so we do have the vote. VicRugby will not vote against the Rebels, so that is the unanimous vote requirements right out the window.

The Force, sadly, do not have the same protection from RugbyWA, given the Force licence is held by the ARU.

I am also pretty sure that if the ARU just cancel the Rebels licence, unless they want to spend the next 5 years in a legal shit-fight costing millions in fee's and compensation, they will simply need to buy the Rebels licence, which unless I am much mistaken, actually needs to be for sale and affordable.

What is the unanimous vote you are talking about?

RugbyWA still has a vote regardless of the Force and who holds the Super Rugby licence.

Do the ARU members need to vote again? They vote on board appointments etc. which just happened at the AGM.

Hunting me out in other threads now? Creepy.

People, including yourself, say the Western Force have really turned things around since their financial issues when the ARU took them over less than 1.5 years ago. And maybe they have. So I guess the argument is things can change a lot in 1.5 years, right?

If the ARU ran the Rebels over 2 years ago, using the logic above, why would that be relevant? Things can change a lot. Quickly.

Also, if you're going to say I said the ARU have "no idea" what's happening in Melbourne, and put "no idea" in quotation marks, you'd be hoping that's something I said. But it isn't. Interesting use of quotation marks.

Misdirection and lies. Again.

Your obsession with me, to the point you have to look for sympathetic ears and third party validation, is the only creepy thing happening here.
Again, i destroy your argument and all you can do is make it about my character.

yeah that's my read. I don't think is any need to vote on this.

It is a Board decision not a member decision.

Unanimous voting doesn't need to occur at the ARU members level.

He is however correct in that the RugbyWA lost a vote from the Force when the ARU took over, which is seperate to the vote held by RugbyWA for member union status. Whether that saw the vote transferred to the ARU(which doesn't seem constitutionally correct) or the total number of votes decreased back to 15 i am unsure.

As for the members(state unions and Super Rugby teams), their powers are much more then just voting on board appointments, the board are ultimately accountable to the members, and as members they retain rights to vote on significant issues, such as:
  •  the right to dismiss a Director, or the whole Board, and appoint a majority of the Board
  •  the right to approve or reject amendments to the Constitution
  • the right to approve or reject changes to ARU’s core business.
Members can call for special resolutions, such as the removal of a Director or constitutional change through an extraordinary general meeting, much like the one the ACT members called for earlier last year in regards to the Michael Jones issue.

As a result of the Arib Review in the ARU, the current voting entitlements stand as:
NSW: 3
QLD: 3
WA: 2(possible 1 after losing ownership of the Force)
Vic: 2(1 for Vic RU, and one for Coxy)
ACT: 2
SA: 1
NT: 1
Tas: 1
RUPA: 1

Is Mitch sticking around for next season? I know he's out of contract, but making the reasonable assumption that we're staying, and his less than amazing European stint, does he want to be a Rebel for life, or is he thinking a Japanese/European sojourn?

or better still Colby, fearless, astute and erudite
I think that any one of those three would make a fine captain. My concern with Colby is that he might become a finisher once Sean (and LT) is back.

I mentioned, after one of our recent pantsings (Canes I think), when a lot of us were calling for TT's head on a stick that I'd like to see Colby as an interim captain now. I'd still like to see that happen.

McMahon is a follow me anywhere leader, not so erudite or as rugby smart (i think), Fainga'a is a really impressive player and bloke it seems to me.

You are 100% correct in your assessment of Colby, Swingpass and he would make the perfect captain of that team. If you watch closely, he already does a lot of the "leading" on the field, often getting in Nick's ear when decisions need to be made and quietly encouraging other players. Just like most of the "shit jobs" he carries out on the field that go unnoticed by many, he goes about his business with a minimum of fuss and is VERY highly regarded by all the players.

I simply can't fathom, given his current form, how it could possibly be considered dropping him to the bench when Sean is available.

I imagine that Sean will probably play 20 minutes from the bench first game or two back, then maybe start and play 40 the next week.

I think the back-row combo we had on the weekend (except the bit where two of them weren't there) was about the best we've had.

So what will our best combination be when Sean (and LT) is back in the team full time?

LT/Colby/Mafi (Sean bench)
LT/Sean/Mafi (Colby)
Mafi/Colby/Sean (LT)
Sean/Colby/Mafi - LT at lock
