Queensland Reds 2025

Ok, so pretty mutually exclusive then. Unless they want someone coming back from injury to prove fitness in a game there won't be any direct crossover.

In my 64 Aus based players we lose

Nasser, Faessler, Thor, Hodgman, Gibbon, Nonggoor, Blyth, LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Canham, Wright, Wilson, Mcreight, Uru, Mcdermott, Lyangh, Paisami, Flook, Vunivalu & Campbell

Soooo this would be my team based on reds signings/development squad from here - https://all.rugby/transfers/reds

1. Faagase 2. Asiata 3. JTA
4. Smith 5. Roiri
6. Vest 8. Brial 7. Bryant
9. Thomas 10. HMP 11. Ryan 12. Pakeho 13. Goldsborough 14. Anderson 15. Aubrey
16. Craig 17. Blake 18. Deluttis 19. Daniels 20.Thygesen 21. Werchon 22. Henry 23. Mccullough/Rubens

I expect we might see a couple of fringe Rebels called in - Mason Gordon and Lebron Naea look the most likely.

Thygessen has been let go by Reds, looking elsewhere, Mcullough is injured and Rubens playing 19s. Dont think they will take Daniels either but no info on that

I’m glad the Reds tour will be heaps of club based players. Hopefully inspires some of the blokes to step up and become viable Super Rugby options.

Brisbane sporting market is so tough at the moment. The Wallabies get pumped on the same day the Lions win a flag. Hopefully Kiss continues to build on what he started and the Reds can be competitive again.

Silver lining to the result is a lot of people had no idea the Wallabies were even on.

At least the Broncos and Dolphins aren’t in the finals. Dolphins will slide now with their pack all old and retiring. Broncs are the Broncs and always dominate the landscape so can’t really take issue

Broncos are absolute shambles at the moment. They do have plenty of capacity to bounce back quickly, but having been in the GF last year they don't really have the lee-way from fans for a "rebuilding" phase at the moment. The way Walters' departure has been handled will also have put some of the old heads offside and I think there might be a pretty toxic year coming at Red Hill, both internally and in the media. The right coach may change that, but the current favourite is Michael Maguire, and his record doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Couldn't have been timed better for the Reds given their current trajectory, if we hit the ground running and put on a good start to the season in that month or so of clean air it should draw plenty of those dual code fans back in, particularly in a Lions year.

The problem is still the Wallabies though.

I can’t see general interest in the Reds/Super Rugby reaching new heights next year after what has been another mediocre rugby champs. I feel like we’re in for another season of 12k attendance rates.

The Lions will have near sellouts each week and the Broncos will at least draw a big crowd to start the season, too many fans will be wondering what a new coach can do with all their talent.

If anything, i reckon the Reds will be feeling the pressure the most to perform early due to all the rebels acquisitions. The haters will be out in full force if our teams can’t win with the ‘stacked rosters’.

Two year deal and an excellent piece of media to go with the announcement:

Based on last year would predict this is the way it'll go - with Frankie to drop out if by some miracle JP stays - or potentially Henry.

Can't see us offloading Richie if we only have 2 hookers (same with Louie at 9), and we've developed Massimo to fill JTA's shoes when he leaves at years end - hard to see that going by the way side. John Bryant looked great filling in for Wilso earlier this year and would be great cover but being behind a Wallabies captain could be tough going for him.
