I'm going to ignore how it got to this and add a few comments about the Rugby club interview.
Quade looked very worried and not confident about what would happen.
I thought he sounded like he wanted to play rugby, but would walk away if the ARU wouldn't endorse his contract.
I thought at the end of the interview that Quade won't be playing rugby next year unless there's a clean out at the ARU.
I don't think there will be a clean out.

A random thought, Deans is going in 8 months why not wait him out?

That would have made sense, if the issue is with Deans and there are no hidden agenda.
Too late now in any event, unless he does a complete 180 he is gooooooone.

STATEMENT FROM AUSTRALIAN RUGBY UNION MANAGING DIRECTOR AND CEO JOHN O’NEILL AO IN RESPONSE TO QUADE COOPER TV INTERVIEW
0

“In light of Quade’s interview last night, we feel compelled to respond because he has moved beyond his comments of the weekend.

“Much of what was said on The Rugby Club has left us utterly confused.

“Quade wants more of a say in the game plan, he wants to play his style of game.

“He certainly made that clear. Yet he also said he could adapt if required.

“He talks of an unhappy environment without elaborating.

“He uses the word toxic – an extremely strong descriptor.

“However, when pressed on the issues he turned to facilities and the Wallabies not having a dedicated place to train.

“We’ve never had these concerns raised previously.

“The fact is the Wallabies are a national team. They train, stay and play in cities all around the country and overseas.

“The Australian cricket team and the Socceroos, same thing.

“Suggesting the Wallabies are under resourced has equally come out of the blue.

“Most disturbingly, he was firm about not playing for the Wallabies unless things change.

“If that is how he feels, then that is his choice.

“The reality is a decision on whether or not he stays in Australian Rugby has to this point rested with him since he received an ARU offer in early July.”

It's an excellent question. Why not wait until the end of TRC? If we lose in RSA and Argentina then there would have been immense pressure to sack Deans. Now they can't fire Deans unless complete and utter catastrophe occurs or there is a team-wide rebellion.

Paarl, sure, no individual is bigger than the team. But how is he personally gaining from this? Do you really think he craves attention that much? Not every one who speaks out is a spoilt brat - some people actually do things like this with a genuine desire to bring positive change. Sometimes we even celebrate people brave enough to stand up for their convictions. I actually thought he seemed sincere - even though I don't think he is dealing with this in the appropriate manner.

Maybe your 100% right - but I fail to see how you can be 100% sure.

You are wasting your time. I doubt Paarl even saw the interview.

Someone told me that a Moore tweet was not supportive of QC (Quade Cooper)'s complaint about facilities, so it's unlikely he will be backing a coup.

there is no way they will fire Deans when he has had such an immense run of key player injuries in 2012...

Cooper is just trying to go out with a bang... make a big noise to attract another offer from elsewhere in the world of rugby...

Goodbye, farewell, totsiens, Auf Wiedersehen, Adios

Lealiifano would be playing in teh Gold 10 if he wasn't injured...

I agree with that. I also felt that it was not him saying what he said, rather that he had been put up to this by someone else.

I agree. I got the distinct impression that he feels that the issue is bigger than Deans - it's just too bad that he didn't elaborate more than the "environment".

I have felt for a while that there is something rotten in Australian Rugby, but I have no idea what it is.

Yes. I think the offer that has been open from July will no longer be open.

I also think the twitter comments from Mitchell about it being hard to bite his tongue (and then retweeted by Moore) are far more likely to be about it being hard not to come out and criticise Cooper than support him.

This has been a rather polarising issue, and for at least the first 33 pages, in all reality we were basing our debate on a couple of tweets and one or two lines to a Sunday paper Journo.

With an appearance on The Rugby Club last night, and the ARU press release, there is a lot more information now on the table for consideration.

Honest Question: Has anyone changed their mind on the matter as a consequence of The Rugby Club interview and the ARU Press Release above?

Would hve liked the meaning of 'facilities' elaborated upon.

MG, now QC (Quade Cooper) - who is next? Does anyone dare wear the no:10 jumper.
