But our last great fly half didn't run away immediately afterwards. He stuck around for the consequences.

I don't mind our players putting it to the ABs, showing mongrel etc. What I don't like is having a crack at someone already on the ground when their back is turned, after you've scored the match winning try and then running away. If he wanted to have a fair crack at Ritchie he'd had 83 minutes before to do it.

If he's looking to play the tough guy, he could always try putting a decent tackle on someone. He shirks that type of contact but is happy to dish it out as long as the opposition isn't ready for it. That's not the kind of man I want in a Wallaby jersey.

Hopefully Elsom and others have had a word to him and he understands what is and isn't acceptable

The look on Elsom's face afterwards suggest that words would've been exchanged...

As an AB supporter - great comment.

As much as I think he talk shit sometimes, I'll always have a bit of respect for Brendan Cannon cos he stood right in front of Mealamu when he gave him that shot right to the head and then took everything that came after it. Even Spencer's cheap shots.

Quade Cooper gets run over all night (McCaw in particular made his tackling look stupid) and then finds the balls to get physical when Ritchie has his back turned to him and is getting up off the ground. Poofta...and yes, Elsom did a good job getting in there.

@Scotty - McCaw was not trying to kick Pocock. He was trying to win the ball back - or did you not see the ball next to Pocock's feet???

Doesn't change the fact he still hit him. It was reckless. It's the same thing has rucking/stomping.

Simple as - McCaw kicked QC (Quade Cooper) like a girl from the ground. Got what he deserved back

You do realise that it's a contact sport don't you?? No wonder you guys have been losing at the conatct area for so long.....

Kiwi's weren't so keen on the contact aspect of the game when Bakkies used his noggin earlier in the year.

C'mon Konze...you're not seriously trying compare a head-butt to the back of the head to a McCaw's attempt to win the ball are you.....seriously???

Do you honestly think that Ritchie looked at the ball and thought to himself, "What a great opportunity to kick Pocock legs!!" ??? Really??

Anyway, I think we won the contact area against the Boks as well so yeah....we're keen on contact.

Gagger, I think you have got it wrong this time. I believe that you either ignore cheap shots & get on with footy,or you deal with it on the spot if it is bad enough.
The time for QC (Quade Cooper) to retaliate was there & then when Richie kicked him.QC (Quade Cooper) did have the advantage, Richie was on his back FFS.
Being a cheap shot artist & a bad winner doesn't do it for me.
But then, those are the actions one should expect of someone who tackles like QC (Quade Cooper).
The experts say defence is all about attitude.
QC (Quade Cooper)'s attitude stinks.....in more ways than one.

QC (Quade Cooper) finally mans up and clears someone out, very nicely. That guy kicks him from the ground and gets lairy with his mates. QC (Quade Cooper) gives him a slap later on. I've got no problem with that.

You need to complete 100% of your tackles before you sort out a childish prat? No-one can do that

We've been to soft in the past. Like the new attitude

I haven't seen the kick by McCaw - I'll have to watch again tonite.

Making more than 10% of your tackles would be a good start before trying to act like a tough guy. And if Quade really had the attitude you like - he wouldn't be such a breeze for ball carriers to run thru.

But he did it at precisely the wrong time. It was almost like he only retaliated knowing it was full time and the the game was going to be at least a draw. So he waited for the protection that both the full time whistle and the scoreboard can provide. The whole point of niggle is to get under someones skin, and potentially put them off their game. If you do that in the 84th minute you get no benefit and look like a jerk. It will only serve to fire the ABs up more next time.

The guys who are truly hard men in our game don't need to give (in the immortal words of Brian Moore) give someone a gay slap when they are on the deck and with their back turned. They front up and take as well as they give. Bakkies is a nut case (who is also a very good footballer), but if someone went toe to toe with him I doubt he'd have a problem with that.

QC (Quade Cooper) needs to harden up on defence before he can start pushing blokes around. To do otherwise makes him look a bit ridiculous. I did like that cleanout on McCaw though. That's a good start.

1. C'mon Konze...you're not seriously trying compare a head-butt to the back of the head to a McCaw's attempt to win the ball are you.....seriously???

2.Do you honestly think that Ritchie looked at the ball and thought to himself, "What a great opportunity to kick Pocock legs!!" ??? Really??

3.Anyway, I think we won the contact area against the Boks as well so yeah....we're keen on contact.

1. It was a vague attempt to win the ball after the whistle had been blown, but I was comparing it to the Cooper kicking incident anyway.

2. He probably thought "There's the ball, I'll try and get it." first, then thought "This'll get under his skin... :D".

3. When? You probably did, but an example couldn't hurt..

1. Oh...my bad.

2. OK...I could accept that as a possibility.

3. It was a pretty general observation.....don't make me actually have to back up my statements...lol

Was the AB player ( not sure who it was ) cited for the head-high tackle on AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) just prior to the last try.The ref saw it as he immediately indicated the "advantage " to Australia. There was also another one in that same passage of play.Did anyone else catch it ??Are they ( the AB's ) a protected species in th eyes of NH referees ???

But my point is this attitude is soft. To me smacking someone who is on the ground with their back turned then running away is the most cowardly thing you can do.
This episode demonstrates exactly what is wrong with QC (Quade Cooper).
He gives Richie a good shot cleaning him out (he came in from a fair way out & hit a stationary Richie in the back)
There is no courage or toughness required for this type of contact..it is a free shot.
But when anyone runs at him front on, there is no aggression & no commitment. He only competes in the bits where he has an advantage.
Robbie needs to run the pack at him EVERY training session this tour, break him, fix him or drop him.
It is unacceptable for one of the highest paid wallabies to have such a significant but fixable flaw in their game.

It was Donald. We can only hope he is not suspended. I bet the Kiwis are begging for fairness in seeing him suspended though
