Gee when is the last time Taniela Tupou played club rugby? Last time I can remember was versus Wests back in 2017. Guess it might be his last time in QPR if he’s heading down to Sydney next year and offshore beyond.
Not sure if this is an indicator of another Melbourne rebels player switching to league but Glen Vaihu played for souths logan last week in the BRL comp.

removing a super rugby team and having no national club comp or NRC style competition for 3rd tier development is only going to drive the fringe Matchday 23 players closer to league.
as others have pointed out… with nrl expanding to 20 teams sooner rather than later our professional rugby players are more suspect to being depth in the NRL to prop up these new expansion teams with no players of their own.

For those capable of playing both, it's silly to not take the more numerous and straight forward opportunities for payment league offers.
Even if you're a goldenboy prodigy that went to the right schools and followed the right pathways, you can pull a Sua'ali'i and start in league and then wait for RA to drop a massive offer in your letterbox.
