I would think that the loss of Francois Steyn is as significant for the Sharks as Cooper's suspension is for the Reds. That kid is a game changer.

Yeah, and like Cooper he can change games both for and against his own team!

Gill v Coetzee. mouthwatering

Gill will win the breakdown battle and Coetzee will get through more work around the paddock. It will be interesting to see which of the two have a bigger influence on the game with their respective playing styles.

Agreed, they have very different playing styles. The Sharks, like the Stormers and Bulls, don't really employ an out and out fetcher type of openside flanker. This tactic is often exposed horribly when playing a team with a breakdown specialist - Pocock, Gill, Hooper etc. It basically requires tight 5 ascendancy and go forward momentum and a massive focus on cleaning out at ruck time from all 15 players to be successful.

Bismarck du Plessis is the closest thing to a fetcher in the Sharks team.

Two three years ago and certainly before going to France, yes.

Very different player now. Far more dependable and doesn't seem to have brain explosions any more. At least I have seen very little of it in two years and I watched a lot of Racing Metro games on TV.

HE has matured very nicely and will be core to the Boks going forward and make a MASSIVE difference to the Sharks next year.

tomorrow arvo

Bah, I've been trawling Twitter/YouTube all arvo waiting for an announcement!

Anyone keen to have a crack at the team? Assuming Lucas comes straight in for Cooper, do any other changes need to be made?

Is Beau fit enough to start? Is Hanson a better chance to start ahead of Saia against the big Sharks pack?

Still plenty of tickets available. Is it second year year of finals so less interest or far fewer SA than Kiwi expats in Brisbane?
Disappointing. If this play offs were in SA they would be sold out in days. Broken Brisbane and Reds supporters.

Lucas should be the only change to the starting side.

Not sure about bench. Prob a 5/2 split with Humphries bought in if he is fit.

Big footy weekend on the Coast. Bronco's play Titans and Suns play Lions maybe we are losing some punters to the oher games?

it seems to be the opposition as much as anything. South African teams are traditionally poor crowd pullers over here. If it was a New Zealand team, the crowd would be much larger, and not just for all the kiwis there.

Give it a rest. We all know how you feel about how good rugby supporters are in SA. You don't have to go on about it every chance you get.

We will only truly see if he has gotten the brain explosions out of his game when he fronts up for the Boks this year.

He was our best player in the World Cup and and was solid as against England.

Seen enough.

That's really poor. Blame the opposition for your own supporters not filling the park in a finals game.

Just think how ridiculous that sounds for a second.

Fickle.

not blaming them. Its a fact. Trackable if you like.
