12. Gough, Fenwicke, Humphries - Battle for the twelve jersey is tight but Conick has the goal kicking aspect

Thanks Goose. This match would have been hard for my health.SJC no 1 ain’t the same without joker there cheering them on
Thanks Joker, I believe Jika often used to say ‘Be humble in victory, and gracious in defeat’Thanks Goose. This match would have been hard for my health.
I was tucked up in an office doing admin stuff while watching the game on my phone hidden under folders.
I was so impressed with those Shore supporters. Great job.

Both can play the game.wow mate i wonder who u support
They also; What I love about the culture around New Zealand school boy and men’s rugby, is that they respect themselves and their opponents so much, to the degree that they find ridiculing their opponents appalling. There is such honour and humility in their victories.
Indeed, they also don’t;They also;
- don’t overestimate their own abilities
- don’t brag about how good they are and what they’re gonna win like Eddie Jones
- hold their cards close to their chests
- accept defeat and don’t offer excuses when they lose
Agree... another great game from him today...Fonua should be a lay down misere, absolutely dominating.

Also though I'd mention how impressive Kings 3 has been this season.
TKS 1 & 3 have scrummed together since U13A at Oakhill. #1 then moved to TKS in 2023 and #3 joined in 2024. I have heard from close and trustworthy source that both moved to TKS to develop their techniques in playing as props. Wish them both all the best. #3 being only 16 not sure if he qualifies to be in GPS 18.Kings 1 and 3 imo have been the best props in the competition. I could honestly see a case were kings 3 is in that GPS 1s side instead of 16s.
Kings seem to be able to develop great props, just last year having 3 out of 4 of the props in GPS 1s and 2s.
Ashdown -GPS 1s
Langi - GPS 1s
Titi - GPS 2s
Views lineouts were exceptional, scrums I thought were 50/50 until 2nd half. GPS yet to realise King's scrum struggle back end of games,Agree with most of this however I think that Kings has the dominant scrum throughout the game. They were a close contest though. The loose head for kings was great at sacking the maul also. The tight head for View played an outstanding game also with some great carries.

I think your right. In a 2 round competition 10 games - you can afford to lose 1 game and maybe a draw but 2 losses a draw and 1 win from 4 the % chance would be pretty low. You then need to start relying on other results and upsets.Scots & Shore probably out if it (ironically they were pre-season favourites)
I have to agree with this somewhat. Shore and Scots were entering the fray with complete confidence but ironically their doing the worst. I still believe ( I have said before) the competition this year is far to close for anyone to be calling anything yet and I could still see Shore rising to the top with some miracle. However the team that truly has surprised me is Newington and props to them. Alas only time will tell and the victor will be truly unveiled ...I think your right. Agreed. Also as you said at the end not a single GPS school has proper lights. As showcased last night when SJC turned on theirs's honestly didn't make a difference. Over at the Knox Grammar School they have huge 'stadium like' spot lights that I believe GPS schools should invest in for events like GPS vs CAS which was held at Knox last year at night time, with the lights on. Great atmosphere. Just a thought because I am sure it would be within the budgets of these schools...I watched the first half of the joeys - shore 2nd xv (a mates son playing for SJC 2's) I thought shore were very good in the first half and starved SJC of the ball for the first 25mins. Joeys hardly touched the ball and when they did it was mistakes and penalties. What impressed me also was the state of SJC ground. I know from playing their 25 years ago what it was like but after all the rain and muck that field is A1. Compare it to TSC, SIC, NC grounds. TKS ground also looks very good. What I also wondered was around lighting...I dont think any school has adequate lighting on their grounds which surprises me a little.
