Brumbies 2025

Not a chance Slipper plays more than 75% of the games the way he looks at the moment. Or he'll be broken by the end of the season if he can't have a few long bench stints. Big AA may be affected by the Achilles but I find it hard to he can get back to it. It's an old athletes injury and I can't imagine good for the big guys. He'll be able to play but what we see now is what he'll be till it's done.
He should have sat out of the spring tour, had a decent off-season to properly prepare for 2025, and Wallabies should have brought in someone like Sio in his place. Baffles me that this didn't happen..

Seems to be some fresh front rowers in that video. Anyone know who that is next to David Feliuai in the huddle at the end of the video?
Think it's Lington Ieli. Quality 122kg Aus U20s prospect at Loose Head. No need to go external there.

If Kautai is out, and Alatini injured, will definatly need more tight head cover. Could do worse than Tom Ross if on the market.

Geez that's a big human at that age. I wonder sometimes about the motor on guys that big at that age. Can take a while for some to get the lungs to match the size when they have no doubt bulldozed people to this point.

Sitting out this one could have bought two more seasons when you let those niggles heal and give everything a rest. He must really want to to play to be fair to him but big picture wise this is a huge 24 month stretch when you think of RWC build up to the end of the Lions for a mid 30s Prop.

By position, it looks something like this:

Props : Ala'alatoa, Alatini, Schoupp, Slipper, van Nek, Vella
Hooker : Bowron, Lonergan, Pollard
Locks : Frost, T Hooper, Neville, Shaw, Tualima
Back Row : Cale, L Hooper, Reimer, Scott, Valetini

No 9 : Goddard, Lonergan, Thorn
No 10 : Debreczini, Lolesio, Meredith
Centres : Anderson, Creighton, Feliuai, Ikitau, Pritchard
Wings : Muirhead, O'Donnell, Sapsford, Toole
Fullback : Wilcox, Wright

My ptreferred starting side for early 2025 would be :

Slipper, Lonergan, Ala'alatoa
Frost, Neville
Valetini, Reimer
Cale

Lonergan
Lolesio
Toole, Ikitau, Sapsford, O'Donnell
Wright

During the year, I'd like to see Schoupp, Pollard, Tom Hooper, Thorn and Meredith put pressure on the starting players in their positions.

I doubt it...

Ikitau is still far and away their best 13 and Feliuai was signed to play 12.
Might be a request come through from the national set up though to have him at 12, particularly to build up the partnership with Noah. And now we’re run by RA might be harder for Bernie to ignore it?

Still a lot of Gold in that XV. Surely Hooper has to start somewhere. I expect Schoupp to share the starting LH with Slipper a lot more. Surprised to see Blake is 25, time to step up me thinks.

I don't see that happening...

Based on a sample size of one, I think there is a real chance that Len Ikitau will move permanently to 12 at the Brumbies as well as at the Wallabies. I was amazed at how naturally he seemed to fit into the 12 spot on the weekend, and given it has been the most obvious weakness for the Wallabies over a longish period, I can easily see him staying there in the long term, Especially if as expected Sua'ali'i retains the 13 spot where he can use his height and aerial skills to great effect. Lenny is a world class 13 but he also looks to have the 12 spot covered to world class level too.

At the Brumbies, I think it could work just as well with his combination with Noah at 10 the same as for the Wallabies, and with Sapsford who is physically similar to JS playing that same role at 13.

Surely Hudson Creighton would be first up at 13 ahead of Sapsford in that situation? He's an out and out 13 as opposed to Sapsford utility and was preferred there last year when Ikitau was unavailable.

Cerftainly an option, but personally I think Sapsford is a better all round player than Hudson.

Yeah, in the chance Ikitau moved to 12 then Creighton was the preferred backup 13 this year...
