I wouldn't think losing Crawford was exactly a good thing.........

The guy has lots of potential, and it's a shame that he never got the opportunity.

If the Brumbies had made the finals he might've seen some game time with the way players were dropping off.........

Brumbies coach Jake White is on his way to South Africa in search of a lock to play for the Canberra-based Super Rugby side next season.

The former Springbok coach has filled all but one of the 30 places in his squad for next year, and is looking for promising young player that will add depth without breaking the bank, as the Brumbies are close to their salary cap.

The Canberra side staged a remarkable resurgence this year under White's guidance and narrowly missed out on topping the Australian conference, but with seven players leaving their ranks at the end of the season they are in need of a quality player to bolster their depth.

White has moved quickly to replace the departing players, most notably replacing Waratahs-bound openside flank Michael Hooper with Wallaby star David Pocock, and with veteran lock Ben Hand off to French club Grenoble White is on the look-out for a rising South African second row star.

There was speculation that White was chasing former Bok stalwart Danie Rossouw, but the Japan-based veteran's price tag will be too hefty and with Scott Fardy, Sam Carter and Leon Power all proving their worth this season indications are that he will look to lure a talented young player from his home country.

Wallaby hooker Stephen Moore believes that the Brumbies will be able to build on their promising campaign this year and said that the franchise has their sights set on eventually securing their third Super Rugby crown.

He told the Canberra Times: "The end point for us is to win a Super Rugby championship, and I think that's achievable in the short to medium term.

"No one thought we'd do anything this year and we almost made the finals. If we can keep improving the way we did this year, anything's possible," he said.

I do, and Jake must have. Tomane, Speight, Coleman, Mogg, Tevita and Smith would all be higher in the pecking order, and it makes no sense having 3 full time contracts (Cox, Crawford & Situati) taken up by fringe wingers - who despite all being fit, played less than 1 full game between them all season. It will likely be Tomane (Smith deserves first crack though) and McCabe in the centres next year, with a seasoned winger coming in as the Crawford/Sitauti replacement. The only thing I'm not too sure on with this is the replacement might be Rathbone, so hopefully he's back to his best.

i always like watching Clyde play... If he's ready for another shot, I say why not give him ago... I take it his knee is now good to go... I agree with Slim it was shame not to see more of Crawford but I guess the other guys were seen as more worthy.

Always liked Rathbone's style: fast, hard as nails, good rugby brain, and loyal to the Brums.

re: Crawford move to the Tahs (aknowledging that probably Crawford also wants to go back to his home state) - IMHO, White should have given more playing time to Crawford, particularly towards the end of matches the Brums had already in the bag (e.g. Rebels and Tahs in Canberra). Similar reasoning for Scott Sio - talented young players gotta play.

I'm quite certain it's a RUPA CBA agreement that EPS contracts can't be for longer then 12 months.. Ruan would have signed a full contract

Excellent, he'll fit in well with Jake White. Maybe JP his twin Boet is also there?

From what i've heard it seems like JP will be staying in Brisbane for 2013 to continue playing at GPS and with the National Academy. Ruan has definitely been signed to a full contract, he has just recently had a shoulder recon so won't be playing anymore club rugby this year and will be flying to Canberra soon for rehab I believe.
