So does Coleman's injury mean that Mogg can stick around for a while longer? Or is Coleman not classed as an "outside back"?

I would assume that Mogg can play as long as any one of the backs are out injured...

However, Coleman was playing fullback...

Mogg is a fullback, easy swap.

That's how I feel it should play out... particularly while Crawford is regaining fitness...

Slot McCabe into the midfield to add some defensive starch... plus he acts like an extra backrower out in the backs which might be important while Vaea plays at openside...

Looks like Coleman will be out for at least three weeks, with a significant amount of uncertainty as to whether that will be sufficient. No mention of Crawford either.

I just hope that Lealiifano and McCabe are not put a 15.

Brumbies face selection dilemma

Brumbies coach Jake White is sitting with a selection dillema after full-back Robbie Coleman was ruled out for up to three weeks with a groin injury.

Although the Canberra-based franchise have a bye this weekend, Coleman will miss at least their next two matches against the Cheetahs and the Chiefs after sustaining his injury in Friday's 19-17 win over the Western Force.

"He's come back, had a scan, it doesn't look that good still. Basically it's one of those injuries we'll have to assess from day to day," White told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Best-case scenario is we won't be able to select him for three weeks," added the former Springboks boss.

But White is still not sure where he will fit in Wallabies centre Pat McCabe, who is set to return to action in two weeks time after a lengthy lay-off with a shoulder inury.

McCabe can replace Coleman at full-back or he can make his return in midfield with inside centre Christian Lealiifano or wing Jesse Mogg moving to the back.

"I'm sure he [McCabe] will be ready, all systems now say he should be okay," White said.

"We'll have a look and see what's best for the whole backline."

Agree, especially for Lilo. He looks natural as a 12, not too dissimilar to Gits years back at the Brumbies.

of course it doesn't: it's from Planet Rugby ;)

Tonight's conditions won't help. It's raining and has been for a day. The field will be a bog.

It looks like Crawford is no longer playing for the ACT XV tonight...

Is he not fit, or been put into starting contention for the Cheetahs match...?

If anyone is going out to watch a wet match tonight ACT XV v Fiji , post tomorrow and let us know how the lads went.

Very very wet game, Fiji won 16 - 6 I think, act looked average in the conditions zac Holmes at 10 didn't pass the ball a whole lot, then with the hog they had at 12 the outside backs were staved of ball. The act scrum looked to struggle at times, Tom Murray had a solid game good pick and go's and running, Dylan Sigg played really good, looked great with ball in hand. Tevita had some big hits in the centres and sutati had some decent runs in broken play, Overall shit weather created shit watching rugby.

Fiji A 16 ACT XV 3.

Zack Holmes was the standout for the ACT in, like humanbeast said, was terrible conditions, although he missed 2 penalty shots. Dylan Sigg was also good and the fullback, Tyler Stephens, didn't do too bad either in a game that was dominated by forwards play. The match wasn't too bad in terms of handling considering how much rain there was but didn't live up to anything with long periods of play camped in one spot.

The Fijians defense was impressive tonight and held out the ACT at least 3 times after multiple phases and penalties in their own 22 and on their line and the scoreline doesn't reflect the possession and territory dominance by the home side.

Fiji's try was scored off an intercept from a botched backline move and were lucky not to score another through a similar incident.

The Brumbies to no longer have a player rep on the board...

Roff set to link board, players
Chris Dutton
March 1, 2012

The ACT Brumbies will move away from having a current player on the ACT Rugby Union board and task Super Rugby great Joe Roff with adding input from the players' perspective.
The Canberra Times understands Roff is likely to be appointed as the new players' representative at the Brumbies' board meeting next month, pending approval from the Rugby Union Players' Association.
It's a move away from the approach of the past at a club which is known for its player power.
The Brumbies have also employed Dr Michael Crawford to conduct an extensive review into the governance structures and strategic framework of the franchise. Roff's likely addition to the board is not part of that review.
The former Wallabies and Brumbies winger will be used to help the players convey their messages to the hierarchy.
Adam Ashley-Cooper was the players' representative on the board last year and was in the meetings which led to coach Andy Friend's demise.
Because of his playing commitments, Ashley-Cooper was only able to attend a handful of meetings.
He then resigned from his position on the board in March after announcing he had signed a deal to join the NSW Waratahs for the 2012 Super Rugby campaign.
The Brumbies have decided to use Roff because he spent almost a decade at the club as a player and he will be available to provide a link between the players and the board members.
Brumbies chief executive Andrew Fagan confirmed yesterday Crawford had started his review and was expected to deliver his findings in April.
Fagan does not expect an overhaul and said the board wanted to ensure it was heading in the right direction.
''We have been reviewing a lot of things across the whole organisation over the last 12 months and we wanted to look at the governance structure and the broader strategic framework,'' Fagan said.
''The board decided it wanted this review to make sure we were appropriately structured and the board was comprised of the right people to meet the challenges the business faces.
''Dr Michael Crawford is an expert in that area and it's to maximise our business success … we've made minor changes but we wanted to make sure we were looking at it in totality.''
The Brumbies' board will have eight members if Roff's move is approved, as well as chairman Sean Hammond and president Geoff Larkham.
Some members are elected while others are appointed because of their positions.
PricewaterhouseCoopers partner Terry Weber and John Gillespie have recently joined the board as well as club rugby player representative Jim Crompton.
Roff was on the board last year, but his position is likely to change to ensure there is input from a past player who can also liaise with the current generation of Brumbies.
Crawford's review will not cover the Brumbies' rugby program.
When new coach Jake White arrived last year, he set about overhauling the playing roster and the coaching staff structure.
Crawford has previously helped review soccer's governing body, the FFA, and the ARU.
''It's more about our structure, we're not looking at any more changes to the rugby program,'' Fagan said.
''We've got some on the board elected by clubs, others who are there by their positions and it's just about ensuring the right people are there.''

3 - 4 weeks for Coleman...

Brumbies' Robbie Coleman out for a month

Exciting fullback Robbie Coleman is expected to be out of action for up to four weeks with the groin injury he suffered in the Brumbies' Super Rugby first-round win over the Western Force.
This week's bye has come at a good time for Coleman but coach Jake White confirmed on Wednesday the 21-year-old had already been ruled out of next week's clash with the Cheetahs and could also miss further games.
"At this stage, he is likely to miss between three to four weeks but it could well be less than that depending on how he recovers and how he responds to physio," said White.
"Robbie will miss the game against the Cheetahs (on March 10) and we will assess things after that."
Coleman's absence presents an interesting selection decision for White, who has Wallabies utility Pat McCabe set to make his long-awaited return from shoulder surgery in the off-season.
McCabe could take over the fullback role where he has played with distinction before or go to the midfield where he played at the World Cup, with winger Jesse Mogg and No.12 Christian Lealiifano other options at fullback.
White is likely to give Mogg every opportunity to cement his wing spot after an impressive man-of-the-match performance against the Force that included the first of the Brumbies' two tries.
"This time last year, he was in the academy and one game into Super Rugby. He's man of the match so it's incredible to think that's where he is in week one," White said.
"But we're not going to get ahead of ourselves - it's one game."
White, who took over at the Brumbies last July, said the bye presented a perfect opportunity to analyse his combinations.

Apparently Hand was battling gastro before round 1 and lost 6 kilos, which seems to be the reason why he hasn't made an appearance for the Brumbies or ACT XV yet...

I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench at least for the Cheetahs.

What's the word on Fotu? I thought we might've seen him for the ACT XV already?

Ignoring the rest of the article...

Meanwhile, Wallabies World Cup inside centre Pat McCabe is expected to make his comeback for the Brumbies against the Cheetahs in Canberra on Saturday night on the left wing.

McCabe sustained a shoulder injury at the World Cup last October, which forced him to miss the Brumbies' 19-17 win over the Western Force in Canberra in the opening round two weeks ago.
He was scheduled to play for the ACT XV against Tonga in Canberra yesterday but the game was cancelled because of relentless rain.
While White always intended to keep Christian Lealiifano at inside centre, it was thought that McCabe would start at outside centre when he returned.
But it appears that Andrew Smith will wear the Brumbies' No 13 jersey again.
As Brumbies fullback Robbie Coleman is sidelined for three to four weeks with a groin injury, White is expected to shift winger Jesse Mogg to fullback and bring McCabe back on the wing.

While I'm disappointed McCabe won't be playing in the centres, I would hope the shift to there off the wing is inevitable...

Obviously you wouldn't put someone coming back from a shoulder injury in a position where he is likely to do more damage with the way he runs
