Australia A - Back on the Cards

Squad named later today with some of the wallabies squad members expected, any speculation on who?

For mine I think Lonergan, Frost, Hanigan, Wilson and Vunivalu will all be there from the guys who were with the wallabies last time, possibly McDermott too, especially if he isn't named for the second Bledisloe.

From the Force I am hoping to see Robertson, Kautui, Fines and from the incomming Force players Williams, Stewart and possibly Hegarty..

Jackson Pugh has being doing well in the NPC for Auckland but suspect it will be better for his development to remain with them for now.

Weird I could only see Hanigan not staying with the Wallabies...

Didn't he turn it down not to ruin his eligibility.

Fines was injured at the end of the season and only started playing again at the back end of the FMG Premiership for Bayswater. The players you are thinking of are Ryan McCaully (English eligibility) and Michael McDonald (since selected to Irealnd A)

There will be no wallabies tests during the period these Australia A games are on, so it's a chance for fringe squad members to get some game time. I do expect Ned will be there if fit, but I didn't think he was even in the wallabies squad at the moment.

Fa'amausili could do with a couple of decent shifts, not sure if Gibbon is still in the squad but if he is he could go back.

Yes you're probably right

The series kicks off on Saturday, October 1 at Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in Tokyo, with the two sides meeting again the following Saturday, October 8, at Best Denki Stadium in Fukuoka. The series will conclude with the third and final match on Friday, October 14, at Yodoko Sakura Stadium in Osaka. Further match details, including kick off times, will be announced in due course.

Match against Scotland is 30th October.

You could have 5-10 players fly to Scotland after this series from Japan, probably not required against Scotland either.

Definitely look at playing Pone, Gibbon, Gleeson, Hanigan, Donaldson

I'd be tempted to play McDermott and Frost too.

Carter Gordon needs a run with Australia A (he didn’t factor in last team announcement cause of finger surgery)

I know he's not in the current squad but I saw Jordan Ulese playing from Wests in QLD over the weekend right? Could be valuable in this team.
I doubt he'll get included unless there are injuries to the other hookers, given he was overlooked for the previous Aus A tour. Expecting the hookers will be 3 of Lonergan, Pollard, Faessler and Kaitu'u.

Totally disagree. The tahs don’t deserve 2 flyhalf nominations when neither guy can stand out and claim the 10 jersey as their own.

Also Carter has a way better package of skills suited for test rugby.

Donaldson & Edmed have been far better this year than Carter & def deserve the opportunity ahead of him, Carter has played 2 games in 3 months 1 just happened to be the final Sunday which he played okay behind an absolutely beast of a pack

Aus A is there to benefit the Wallabies. If you start for the Rebels it doesn't mean you are automatically ranked in the top 5 for your position in the country.

It should be the best available right now. Especially with a RWC at the end of next year. The Early 2000s Brumbies could have had 1,2,3 in certain positions.
