Australia A - Back on the Cards

The Ghost of Raelene

Plenty of players available and other would be excited at the opportunity to show themselves before Super Rugby pre season.

Ryan Lonergan
Edmed
Donaldson
Mark N (Nawaqanitawase)
Gibbon
Pollard
Gleeson
Tom Hooper
Holz
Harris

These are just the first names that came to mind and I know it's Tah heavy. Please add other names. But these guys have been around the Wallabies, 7s, Aus A squad already.

Someone remind me - when does Gamble become eligible? Could he be in the mix? Similarly Jahrome Brown?

Keen to see Kuenzle also get a run if fit. Could be another option at 10. Always thought he was at least as good as Noah at the Brumbies.

I asked this a while back about Gamble and I think its next year.

Jahrome Brown has been great for the last couple of years. Very abrasive player with an engine for days. Gamble would be a top 3 Openside straight away with Hooper and McReight. Hope the Tahs can lock him up as who knows Hoopers movements post RWC.

Kuenzle needs steady time in the position which I hope he gets at the Force and under Cron. Aus A could be a great place to get some mins.

I thought Stewart was going to be 10 - Stewart 10 and Kuenzle 12 could be quite handy

I think Stewart has looked a far better player when in the 12 jersey at the professional level.

He's a steady attacking player and a very good defensive player. I know he said he wanted to play more 10 but part of me wonders how much of that was to get out of the Reds as there was a smell around that.

Simon Cron knows a lot more than I do about Rugby and has a few options on the table.

I'd agree with you however my understanding is that Stewart was interested in the Force based on gaining further opportunity at 10. Is Cron the guy to get a 10 out of Stewart? He is certainly a fabulous rugby player and if he can settle there he could be sensational. That said, I could never support him in the 10 role at the Reds.

We'll see. I don't think he's a 10 at this level but good luck to him. He has a chance to get time in the position with Pasitoa's injury.

Prior, Stewart 9/10 combo doesn't scream points and good footy to me.

Will be interesting to see what the coaching team looks like. Michael Todd has headed to Edinburgh so they'll at least need a new defence coach, I also wouldn't be surprised if the Force and Brumbies didn't want to send any coaching staff with new head coaches coming in at both sides (and the Brumbies apparently not sending a tour).

With Tim Sampson linking up with the Rebels I won't be surprised if he pops up. There might also be some opportunity to get a few of the Wallabies coaches involved with no tests on during that period, particularly given it's the Wallabies systems they want them all playing.

I wonder what this will mean for the tours that the super rugby teams had rumoured, consecutive perhaps. Would struggle for concurrent tours with numbers

if Aussie A players were not available then a Reds team of:

15 Mac Grealy
14 Kye Oates
13 Josh Flook ??? (Taj Anan)
12 Isaac Henry
11 Floyd Aubrey
10 Tom Lynagh
9 Kalani Thomas
8 Keynan Tauakipulu
7 Connor Pritchard ?
6 Conor Vest (is the ITM still going?)
5 Lopeti Faifua
4 Angus Blyth
3 Zane Nongorr
2 Josh Nasser
1 Dane Zander

16 Richie Asiata
17 Sef Faagase
18 Rhys van Nek?
19 Wilson Blyth
20 Carsen Patu
21 Spencer Jeans
22 Tayler Adams
23 Taj Anan / Billy Bulley / Josh Collins / Joey Fittock

What's happened with Pasitoa? He has gotten some hype in the media, what are people thoughts on him?

What ever happened to Jack Maddocks, he really did leave Aus in a bad time, probably would have gotten a shot at starting fullback now.
