Even the Argies who wouldn't be used to such a grueling tournament get it right with injuries..

Glad to see Dennis out of the GR&G, hopefully for good. Say what you want about Timani's ability to get around the park but would you rather have Dennis in there being anonymous in open field play and even more anonymous in the set piece against the Pumas pack?

Shipperley didn't deserve to be dropped
I know there's a lot of man love for Cummins but this is the most easily discredited selection of Deans career.
WTF did shipperley have to do with last weeks debacle? And if the thinking was he should have been more involved then the simple question is when and how: sure he could have run 50m to get nearer the ball but only to find himself tackling a bokke forward on a turnover.
And if they've decided on the very limited evidence that he's not test match standard that only raises a question of why they picked him in the first place.
This really looks like headless chook stuff.

It's probably been mentioned but with Douglas and timani in we only have 2 real line out options.
And Harris is a crap fullback. Why not simply swap him with McCabe?
And Shipperly dropped WTF! Having said that I'd add good luck to Cummins hope he goes well.

Cummins deserves a chance. I suspect it is as much a rotation as anything.

We need to have a blindside wing ready if Ioane goes down. Cummins could fit that mould.

Blindside wing? Dont we play left and right wings - or is that another development I missed?
I dont doubt that Cummins should be given a go but the timing could have been better (EOYT) - if they're going to pick a specialist winger on the bench couldn't he be subbed on - for his debut: being careful to make sure that he is in the first 7 attempted substitutions?

Great to see Taps get a spot. Slipper as well - should have been there all year. Also surprised that Shiops was benched and harris got the brief at 15. (all to do with kicking i suppose). Anyway we have a big pack to combat the Argies and i reckon it will be a big big battle, that will ultimately decide the game.
Not many on the Rugby Show are backing the wallabies except Horan (+ another). Only reason for liking the bloke (other than as a player).

Think Wallabies will really put it together on Sat - Australia by 20-30.

PS Congratulations to Cummins for Cap Number 1 - you could "feel" his excitment in the interview last night - thats the attitude I want to see from all whether a first cap or 100 cap player

Shipperley didn't do much wrong, but he didn't do much special either.

Cummins deserves a chance, he was one of the best wingers in the S15 and then continued his from the SS.

He should bend the line a bit more at least and as we use wingers through traffic on inside balls we need that. We don't give wingers space on the outside to go around sides and this side is set up to go through the middle, not around.

I think dropping blokes who do nothing wrong in the present context is cheapening the jersey by saying "oh, lets just have a look at this bloke".
And if you're right about Shipperley being a lesser player up the middle and that this is the way we are intending to play, then Shipperley was never the man for that job and Cummins should have been there from day 1.
Having said that I say good luck to the Badger - you guys love hime and I havent seen enough of him to have a view.

Beale is our best attacking option, he needs to be at 10 so he touches the ball more.

I can see your point but this just says that relying on 'x-factor' players will get us the game and the other guys aren't really all that good. Forget structure and game plans, lets give it to the best player all the time. Deans is not coaching U13's.

Which Australian players aren't scratchy under the high ball? Genia and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are the only ones who aren't and they are out. I get the calls for McCabe to be 15 and Harris 12, but does McCabe have a clearing boot to kick us out of trouble?
I wouldn't be surprised if we see McCabe and Harris swap throughout the game and with Harris, he can be used to act as a second playmaker and take pressure off Beale if required.
I feel for Shippers, he has been a little hard done by, but good to see Taps getting a gig. Overall, considering the injuires, this is actually a pretty good team and there should be no excuses for losing.
I am not taking anything away from the Argies, who I think are going along quite well, but the Wallabies should still win this one, in a tight encounter. Wallabies by 5.

When you have many forced substitutions - Harris, Taps, Slipper, Timani - in a side which is still finding it's feet with Phipps and Beale, it seems reckless or worse to tweak for tweaking sake.

Ships seemed to be running off Phipps/Beale at times and made 8 runs for 54 metres, it takes time to build combinations and some degree of trust .

Having said that, Cummins has been around a season or two longer than Ships, puts in 110%. Look forward to seeing him smashing it up.

IMHO Cummins will be a one-cap Wallaby!
Why, you ask, well if his nickname is Honey Badger, it must because he's a biter! Friends of mine once had a racehorse named The Honey Badger, because of his habbit of nipping human body parts!
So Mr Cummins will get a 12-match ban (as per Bulldogs' player, James Graham), and won't be selected again!

Shipperley had a deer in the headlights moment in our own 22 late in the game. I wouldn't drop him for it either, but it hardly matters at this point and the coach is desperate.

Bullocks, doing nothing wrong is not enough hopefully to lock down a Wallaby jersey.

I am happy to see someone given a go who can do more than not make mistakes (I know I am setting myself up to look like a clown if he has a 'mare)

I see Taps in the same way.

You aren't doing that at all. You make decisions based on the information you have at hand. If new information comes to hand that doesn't vindicate that decision, you don't look like a clown unless you can see into the future.

Michael Dell said in 1997 that Apple would be best liquidated and the equity returned to shareholders. Now people say HUR DUR WHAT AN IDIOT LOL but in 1997 it looked like the only play that wouldn't leave shareholders with nothing.
