Pumas have much more Springbok in their play than All Black.
So if what Bob Dwyer writes in his last article is correct then we should be fairly comfortable.
The loss of Genia to this team is a bit of an unknown. Hopefully it can be overcome in much the same fashion as the loss of Poey has been.
We need a big game from Cooper who will be directing traffic without his little general.

Rewatched the Pumas v All Blacks game tonight - it wasn't until the Puma's lost their #6 to a yellow card in the 60th minute that the All Blacks started to get on top. Until then it was 9-5 and Pumas were right in it.

Once they had to use their bench they also suffered in comparison to the All Blacks bench players who came on.

This is a real danger match for the Wallabies - I hope they know that.

The 100 km/h wind also disappeared about then.

The team has been announced. Barnes to 15, Beale on the bench....

AND McCabe running on at 12...AFTER ABOUT 30 MINS OF BURKE CUP STANDARD rugby.

That's it for me. Deans has lost the plot.

Who would you prefer?

Also, what were you expecting to happen?

Before possibly contradicting myself, I am going to preface this post by saying that I don't hate our back line.

I think it comes down to a lack of depth, or just the shit ton of injuries we've got at the moment, but this moving players around to different positions is out of control. Imagine this scenario.

Dagg plays 15 in first Bled, 14 in second Bled and then 13 against the Argies.
DC plays at 10 in first Bled, 12 in second Bled and against the Argies but with mixed performances so plays fullback against SA.
Or even worse SBW is moved from 12 to fullback?

At worst you could accuse the AB's of playing Nonu at 13 when he's played most of his recent footy at 12. But they pick the best player for each position. This is a luxury we probably don't have at the moment, but if we ever want this luxury we need to start cementing players into the position they are best at and only picking them there. It really is doing my f'ing head in. :D

I expect McCabe to come off within 40 minutes, either injured or buggered from lack of game time, or both, and Ant will take his place.

Or Barnes back to 12 and Beale on at fullback.

I guess the state of the game could have a big impact on what change is made.

Has anyone seen a figure for the number of tickets sold yet?

I see on ticketek you can still buy blocks of 10 seats in silver & bronze and the place only holds 27000.

Maybe they should've just played it in Canberra

Todays courier mail quotes JO'N "tracking towards 20,000." with a positive spin on it.

Queensland 2nd largest city, a tourist mecca and an awesome boutique Rugby stadium.

I am actually disappointed in this figure. It should be close to sold out with only a few days left.

I live close to the Sunny Coast. If this was an afternoon game I would definitely be there but starting at 8pm by the time it finishes I doubt I'd be up for the 2.5 hour drive home. Which means I watch it at home.

Almost everyone on G&GR is supportive of Day Rugby, it would also be a good way to avoid going head to head with AFL and NRL finals. But the Titans and Suns have had difficulty with day games and you can understand why, with the beautiful climate and abundance of outdoor recreational activities available - eg, beach, theme parks, hinterland rainforests and other water activities.

I'm really disappointed with the projected numbers. This stadium should be close to full. If they don't, the GC should be struck off future Wallaby Test match schedules.

I'd say they were right in it, but as with the Wobs games, it was more because of AB errors (ok, ok caused by Argie pressure) and I'd argue the Argies never looked they would threaten to score again, let alone take the game.

There's been very little in the way of promotion that I've seen. Let alone promotion for a GC game. Maybe I've missed it all, but if the GC public don't know the game is on, how do we expect them to go to it. It may not be the Gold Coast's fault if there's a poor showing?

I expect it will get a pretty good crowd in the end. I think you'll find that a large number of locals will rock up on the night.

Also Skilled Park is a great stadium for Rugby. I think it's going to be a great atmosphere on Saturday.

I think it's important to keep in mind that the GC has generally has been doing it tough this year attendance to all sporting events have been down. I think theyll get a crowd on over 20k which is pretty decent.
