I expect it will get a pretty good crowd in the end. I think you'll find that a large number of locals will rock up on the night.

Also Skilled Park is a great stadium for Rugby. I think it's going to be a great atmosphere on Saturday.
I've heard this also but never been which is the reason I was contemplating going. Still might if I find a good deal on accommodation perhaps. :D

Yeh mate It's like a mini-suncorp. Close to the field, not a bad seat in the house and the sound in the stadium doesn't escape. The corporate area leaves a lot to be desired but otherwise not a bad place to watch a game.

Lucky the chance of me ever making into corporate areas is near to nil! :D I see from Google Maps that its right next to the station but if I could jag a good deal for accom on the coast what are buses/taxi's like for transport do you know? Or parking for that matter if we drove.

shit. Id recommend parking at the Nerang Train station. It's just off the highway (one stop north of Robina). Park there catch the train to robina (literally a 3 minute train ride). Then when the game is over catch the trian back to Nerang (3 minutes).

There wasn't too much of a crowd at the first Gold Coast 7's either.

I'm predicting a much bigger crowd this time around, and next year even more....

"If you build it, they will come .... but not immediately"

Be patient.

Lets not get overly upset if the first Wallaby test match on the GC against a relatively unknown opponent doesn't sell out..

it will be a much better spectacle either live or on TV than that shit viewing at Subi in Perth. The camera men were shithouse and the cameras so far away. Until they get a rugby stadium, that is, a rectangle then piss off all televised matches in the west. I don't mean to be provocative but the viewing was just shithouse

Mr Doug - no one wants to know about any precipitation in the lucky red jocks.

Braveheart81, I was driving home from work this afternoon when I suddenly realised what you actually meant in this post!
The sponge-rubber pads in our shorts that I was reffering to, were thigh-pads to comphensate for the hard, dry fields we often played on, not incontinence pads. Sorry for any confusion!!

There are a lot of Kiwis living on the Goldie, but generally speaking, this is not a rugby town, to put it mildly. A lot of the local retirees are from AFL regions. The local A-League franchise has bombed, as has the basketball. The Titans are just hanging in, and loig is far stronger here than rugby.

The Sevens will grow, from what I have heard, people really enjoyed the first one and of course New Zealand will dominate, as usual, so the local Keewees will be there in numbers.

All in all, I am not sure what the strategy is about. Unless there were significant kickbacks for playing at Robina, it would have been far better to play this game in Sydney, where there is presumably some sort of Argentine population. Maybe the problem is the timing, with the NRL finals taking the SFS?

What passes this year, at either S15 or Test level, has McCabe not made or should have made?

I'll be the first to admit that my memory is not good enough to give you a proper answer, and I'm not about to go back and watch every brumbies game.

But what I will say is, how many times have you seen McCabe run into space, draw some defenders, and then throw a wide pass at full speed? It is easily the weakest area of his game.

It is also a skill that pretty much all of the great 12's of the modern era have possessed.

So far, we all know that the genuine Mr Doug LRJ's are extremely powerful.

To the best of my knowledge, internationally in support of the Wobs, that power has been channelled across the airwaves via the TV.

I will be interested to know of the effect of luckiness when they are used in a live environment.

I would imagine that the luckiness factor and impact could be enhanced, but I am wondering if there is an "arming zone", based arond the transmitting wavelength which seems to be designed very much in the HF band, given the distancesthe luckiness coefficient has to travel from Chez Doug to the oval in question. In the HF band the super long distance transmissions are achieved by atmospheric bouncing of the signal. In doing such, close locations to the transmission source can "miss out" on receiving a strong signal.

In short, I hope the LRJ's you take to the game on Sat Night have been configured for the VHF, or "line of sight" transmissions.

Oh and yes, keep them dry, and remember about the negative effect on the LRJ's of flatulance.

You can't grow the game by storming off in a huff if the place you're trying to grow it doesn't fill the stadium first time round.
Groucho, growing the game, that's what the IRB 7s tournamant is for. This is a Wallaby test match. We have huge crowds in AFL loving towns such as Perth and Melbourne. We're told the GC produces an abundance of rugby talent, JOC (James O'Connor), Sharpe, Shipperley etc. The region even put in a bid for a Super Rugby side.

I am very supportive of the GC getting the 7s and having this Test. I'm patient for the 7s crowd to build, but not a Test Match. I hope the crowd is close to a sell out for Saturday night, but if it isn't, places such as Canberra and Melbourne, who missed out this year, should get their chance.

Sports Administrators have looked at the GC as a promised land, but if the people on the GC don't want to travel to the stadiums then it's time to look elsewhere. It's not about storming off in a huff, it's about having some pride and not hoping year after year that people turn up.

I hope the people in SE QLD who can make it to the game, make the effort to support top level rugby in the region. If any of you live in the region take a few mates. It would be great to have a full stadium for the players.

Last year, is very different to this year for McCabe.

I was his biggest critic RE attack, but his involvements at the Brumbies this season, albiet as part of a well coached and confident backline, were more than sufficient. He was drawing and passing/cut out passes, and even an excellent little grubber kick through.

REmains to be seen whether or not he will bring this new found distributing to his game for the Wallabies.

I doubt it, because the team is NOT well coached, and are not confident/playing well. No one has stood out in the backline this year, not even Diggers. He's done his best to break contact, but is looking a tad slower than in previous years, and not as elusive.
