Is anyone else feeling an 'ambush' is well and truly likely on Saturday? Just watched a replay of the Pumas/ABs game and the absolute lack of penetration the ABs had in the forwards worried me.

The Wobs would have seen that obviously but what worries me is that they'll shy away from trucking it up in the forwards which will end up meaning they do a WC v. Ireland and forget to turn up at all.

Any takers? I may have gone insane

What passes this year, at either S15 or Test level, has McCabe not made or should have made?

Probably none. But he isn't being asked to pass so we can't blame him for that. The question is whether the way our team has been utilising our 12 is the best option, or whether having a 12 that is better at imposing other threats on the defense (and utilising a broader range of skills) is a better way to open up said defense.

For mine we should only have one of McCabe or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the team, and at the moment it is clear that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is ahead of him in the pecking order.

I got your back.

The Pumas will just be in-your-face, body-smashingly desperate to win an RC game or two to prove they belong at the big table.

We have all seen how a team with lesser ability wins due to hunger and aggression. If the Wallabies follow the normal script of winning one, feeling cocky then blowing the next one, they could be in for a loooong night. And lots of post game physio.

Pumas to score a try at the 81 minute mark and win by 5.

Yeah, I said it.

New Zealand and the Springboks were disadvantaged by going into the game with little understanding of how the Argentines would play, hopefully the Aus coaching staff have analysed the Argentine style and are better prepared then there SANZAR counterparts..

I believe Argentinas ability to compete will drop the longer this tournament goes on..

I certainly feel an ambush coming on, but we'll have no excuse for not knowing to expect. The Argies really only play one way and if we're not prepared for it then we're toast. We have to approach this game like we do against the Boks: prepare for a massive physical confrontation.

I reckon we'll put a big score if it's dry and hot on Saturday.

Forecast is "mostly sunny", 11c min/22c max, with ESE winds @ 24km/hr (at 3pm), pressumably easing at night!

BTW, Will Genia's knee op. was described today as being "successful".

Further to weather comments above, be advised that Mr Doug's Gold Coast-based rain gauge has recorded "nil" precipitation since 19th July, so by Saturday that will be 58 consecutive rain-free days!
Let's hope that the Skilled Park Irrigation is working better than some of the systems in the Gold Coast City Council's parks, or the players will need sponge-rubber pads in their shorts like we had in the 60s and 70s!!

The ARU should try get some more day games, we're definitely suited to those.

Only one of the wobs (sharpie) has played against the pumas. This will present two different scenarios:-
1. The wobs will not be intimidated because (as a group) they have not been beaten by the pumas
2. They will be unsure because they are an unknown quantity (no familiarity etc)

Wonder how it will pan out?

The Wobs shouldn't be intimidated. We're no.2 in the World bitches!

The argies are about to discover a rugby Fact this weekend. We may be a train wreck of a team some time, but there is still only 1 team in the world that can expect to beat us at home.

Welcome back Pat McCabe.

I think a fully fit McCabe is a world class inside centre, and he is still early on in his test career. Can't wait to see him back in gold, just hope he hasn't been rushed back.

Oh my god. Who stole the keys to the asylum?

What on earth is going on around here? Now he is world class! Next he'll be the best we've ever had. Horan.... Pffft..... Some hack pretender....

Welcome back Pat McCabe.

agree. He always plays hard without exception, put some steel back in the team. IMHO best position for him would be 15, not the most inspiring attacker, but safe as houses in defence (urgently needed, remember KB (Kurtley Beale)'s missed tackes in the 1st Bledisloe, not convinced about BB). One try saved is like one try scored.

hehe, problem is Scotty, he is our best choice at 12 at the moment and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) our best at 13. SBW destroyed us last game against the ABs in the 12 channel and McCabe would have done a better job at stopping him than Barnes. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) always goes alright at 13. We did have several playmakers in the side with Beale, Cooper and JOC (James O'Connor) but only one of those is playing ok.

PS: not optimistic about the Wobs' chances vs Pumas - we seem to suffer more against "in your face" teams playing with high enthusiasm & intensity. That, coupled with the Pumas' strong forward play and the absence of Genia, likely to spell trouble. Maybe to home advantage will tilt the balance.

Rewatched the Pumas v All Blacks game tonight - it wasn't until the Puma's lost their #6 to a yellow card in the 60th minute that the All Blacks started to get on top. Until then it was 9-5 and Pumas were right in it.

Once they had to use their bench they also suffered in comparison to the All Blacks bench players who came on.

This is a real danger match for the Wallabies - I hope they know that.
