That is up there with one of the worst apologies ever!

If you read between the lines you will see that while I admit to misinterpreting one particular aspect of his reply to my original post, I am not really apologising because I strongly disagree with the bulk of his reply.

Sorry for not spelling it out for you. I'll re-iterate my point since you seem to like everything clearly spelled out. BDA was of the opinion that the Springbok performance over the last 4 years was not impacted by the coaching (or lack of) from PdV. Basically, they had a terrible record against the Wobs solely because the Wobs had better playing talent.

Yet, if I wanted to take the time, I could find numerous examples of instances where he has pointed out that the poor performance of the Wallabies is heavily influenced by the selections/tactics employed by Robbie Deans.

I'm sorry but was PDV not your coach when you won the Lions tour?

So far under Meyer its Wallabies -1 Boks -0

I agree with the scond part of your post, not the first.

It was a commonly known fact that two games into PDV's tenure when he was trying to get the team to swing the thing around and run it off our own line, game plan and coaching for all intent and purpose were taken over by Smit, Matfield and du Preez. There was a player revolt.

I could have coached that team. Drills were run by Gold and co (assistants) and Pdv held pep talks with players one on one and hopped from media disaster to media disaster.

Now I think the team would have done better with a strong coach who had control of the dressing room but the senior player called the shots. That has been known fact.

So no, as far as most people are concerned, PdV deserves very little credit.

But this situation has come and bit us in the bum becuase in that same year (2009), the coach should have started to bring in younger talent and didn't becuase the players had a stranglehold.

2010 until now has been the knock on effect of that. Too many older players (until last year anyway) and more importantly, no knowledge of who could make the step up. Not one bold selection was made in three years (some people suggest Brussow is a credit to PdV. Rubbish. Burger got suspended and Brussow was breaking the door down week after week and he had to pick him because Smit asked (told) him to).

So now we are further back than we should have been. Meyer has shown ominous signs of sticking with the older players and game plan but circumstance is forcing his hand which is a good thing.

I don't think anyone can deny that the Wobs have had the wood over us. All I want to see is progress and process. It would be a great start because we has absolutely NONE of that for four years and it hurt our rugby badly.

I don't mind losing at the moment. I mind losing and stupidity at the same time. We are unfortunately very good at that.

Myself wanted to see improvement from the second test against the Argies. The Boks even better that and came close in winning both tests away from home. Thats where we have to go to next year. At home we cant afford to drop any test. Thats will be a step back. Our forwrads look solid in both the tests, niow the backs have to play their part and this will happen on saturday. Anything less then a 20 point win will be disappointed. The Wallabies is there for the taking and hope the Bokke bash them big time to set the record straight.

I don't think you can expect to win by 20 points in any test match PB, that is unrealistic. The margins are very small in test rugby and you can't go out expecting to beat any team by 20 points or more, no matter which players they have available to them.

We should just be happy with a win at this stage, with a reduced amount of errors and more fluency in our play, particularly in the backs.

I want to see improvement since our last test and if we get that, we'll beat them by 20 at the least.

I dont expect much from the wallabies this weekend. Playing away from home with lots of injuries and gastro running through the camp.

Hope they give it a good shot but.

Exactly, but apparently I am the one that needs things spelled out to me!

I reckon Cummins is pretty good and deserves a shot at some time, you may be using your early impressions of the guy, reports a while ago said for his first few years of pro rugby he wasn't that focussed on pro rugby. But that changed about two years ago and this season he was one of the best backs in the Aus S15 sides.

He can make things happen in both attack and defence. His only weakness is his first option is not to pass

Fair enough Fatprop, I must admit the only times I saw him play this year was against the Reds, so I have fallen into the trap of valuing a player from early impressions. If he does get his chance for the Wallabies I'll watch with an open mind.

That bench is pretty skinny on versatility for the backs. Hope there are no injuries there.

On the field:
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) - 11, 13, 14, 15
Barnes - 10, 12, 15
Beale - 10, 15
Ioane - 11, 13
McCabe - 12, 14 (15?)

Yeah, looks like they're really going to be in trouble if a back gets injured.
